Any flashing red lights are typically a overheating problem. Two lights just mean that the internal parts get too warm too quickly and you need better ventalation.

For two lights here's what you can do to normally solve this problem the first time:

1) Do not keep the XBOX on carpet or anything soft; make sure it's on a hard surface standing up. Give it about 2 or 3 inches of clearance away from everything to let it breathe. Make sure nothing is blocking the ventallation openings either.

2) Instead of paying quite a bit of money to send it out right away, first go to a game store or event Target, buy a cooling fan connection and what this does is adds air to your internal parts and cools them down better. The benifit of buying this part anyway is that if it's not solved by just this piece, you now have a way to prevent other overheating problems.

3) If nothing seems to work, i'm sorry but you'll need to send it out to Microsoft Support, which will run you somewhere around $100-$200.

There's not a lot you can do here. Other than the fan you don't have very many options. I wanted to give you a straight answer so please respect me for taking the time to help you.

If i've helped you, all I ask is for a very helpful rating.

Respectfully,

Don

First off I have removed many fan atachments from overheating 360s and
found they do little if nothing to supplement cooling ,In fact thay tend to
load up the 12 volt power supply's input
to the console .

The Real Cause is 1 the heatsink compound has seeped away from the
C.P.U. . this is normaily more common with consoles played sideways .if this is
then the G.P.U. will simpley need new heatsink compound.

and 2 the G.P.U. has lost/loosing contact
with the thermail sensor line causeing the
console to think it's hot , but its not. This
will most likley require a reflow of the G.P.U.

Just some solid Info from a 360 repair
tech , to give you something to think about.

If you have the 2 red lights you might be able to fix it by stopping the heat build up.

Sometimes this means that all you need to do is give your Xbox 360 a good dust out and it will work for you.

Or if that does not work you can send it in and they will fix it for you or you can use a good Xbox 360 Repair guide to fix it.

SOURCE: DISK TRAY WONT OPEN ON MY XBOX 360 THE CENTER

Hi, the problem could be down to one of a couple of things the first and most commone is a dust build up on the runners inside the tray or the laser lense itself sometimes knocking on top of it would read the games for about 4 days. then knocking will stop working. if you have any warranty left then take it back and get them to fix it or replace it, if you have no warranty left then you could either pay someone to fix it or try fixing it yourself if you do it yourself goolge for xbox 360 repair guid and this will then list loads of sites that show you how to take it apart, doing this will void any warranty and can cause more problems if you get it wrong..
if after getting it cleaned or cleaning it yourself it still dont work then this points to the fact that the dvd drive is no longer working and will need replacing.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

My XBOX 360 will not turn on. The power bar has a green light but pressing the eject button or power button on the console will not turn it on. We have tried plugging it in to a different outlet but that...

Hi christoph52893,

If the Xbox 360 power supply light is green, this means the Xbox 360 power supply is ok and it is an issue with the console itself. You will need to contact Xbox 360 customer support to service your console. However, if you have a flashing orange or yellow light, it means that your console is fine but instead there is something wrong with your power supply. It indicates that it's not getting enough power.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
