hi, i have tried changing the dpi, but because the text is so large, it is impossible to see if it has changed. I click on the 96 dpi but then you cant see the ok to click on to. (so I just press return) I have changed the theme back to vista. I have restarted the comp, but the text is still the same.

I have gone into display settings, and a screen with monitor and a box with number 1 on it, at the bottom of the screen (i can just about see) it says generic PNP monitor on NVIDIA Geforce 7000m/ pForce 610m, I cant see if there is anyhing underneath that, as I can not move the screen any lower!

The first thing to check is the preferences for display. It sounds from what you say like it is there that the problem lies.

Right click anywhere on the desktop EXCEPT on an icon, and choose the bottom option "Personalize" from the menu that appears. On the left is an option called "Adjust font size (DPI)" start by checking that this is set to 96 and not the larger 120dpi.

You might also like to change the Theme back to Windows Vista and see if that fixes it. These options should change your screen back to the way it was.

Okay, the next thing to check is that Windows still recognizes your video card. Compaq are owned by HP so you can download the latest drivers for your video card from hp.com.

To check, go into Personalize as you did before, and into the bottom option - Display settings. Above the slider should be something like "Generic PnP monitor on NVIDIA MCP67M". If the slider isn't movable to the right, check to see if it says "Generic PnP monitor on (unknown device)" - this would indicate that there is something wrong with your driver.

In that event, go to the drivers and download section of www.hp.com and give it your model number, you can find the right drivers there.

Let me know if you still have problems.

I want to start safe mode on inpriron 11420

From what i see in your specs the Dell Inspiron 1420 came with Win Vista. I assume you have upgraded, Did you check Win 8 compatibility with your hardware? You may have exceeded the hardware components limitations. Therefore it will not run Win 8 with much sucess, and will continue to crash, Check here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements. That said, I would use win 7 at the most.

How can I stop my laptop screen from jumping from large to small and back?

Is this happening online on a browser page what browser are you using. This does not mainly happen once you set the text sizes you desire in the control panel under preferences for your computer, I have this happen with mine as well in the browser because I have allowed text to be allowed as it looks for the Web Page I may be viewing.
It also may be a video card issue not to worry you but I would take it in and have it checked out. Just to make sure if you have purchased some insurance for it for sure. That would be what I would do is take it in since it is new. If it is the Windows and not the Internet and you have set the size you desire then I would take it in of browsing on the net and this happens you can set fonts sizes using Tools and Options under the hood sort of thing.
Another thing that could be happening is software you may have loaded from a game may be affecting it. I noticed with mine that my screen would change sizes for the games or video I have going on and then jump back to default screen size and fonts. If your playing any games this also could be an issue. Keep reading other answers maybe someone else has a better answer. John

Go to start, "click" next! click on Control panel, Double click on display, Click on settings "upper right" Lower left you will see screen resolution "click on arrow and move it to the right" Windows will ask you do you want to save these settings "click yes" that will reduce the screen size

Sir I have dell inspiron 1564 in guaranty. And resolutin is not increase by which i cant see my displays correctly. Perhaps vga driver is not install in win 2007. Give solution please

Right click on the desktop, SCREEN RESOLUTION, lowering the resolution will increase the text size. You can also check VIEW on that menu and select large icons.

Text size is the inverse of screen resolution.

My Acer Webcam Is Gone Ever Since I Installed Windows 7!?

As with all laptops parts are sourced from different manufacturers. Laptops had to be certified for WIN 7. Some ACERs laptop models are, but if the model wasnt certified for the WIN 7 platform they would not have developed a driver for your model. After checking ACER did NOT certify this unit as Windows 7 Compatibile due to driver incompatibilities. You can either downgrade to Windows Vista.. which will require a full reformat of drive (WIN 7 doesnt just uninstall) and reinstall from fresh VISTA.. so be sure and save your data. Or you can determine who makes the webcam in teh notebook and see if the manufacturer has a direct driver..OR FINALLY.. you could load the Vista driver and then go into the webcam software you use and right click and say run in "Windows vista" or "Windows XP" compatible mode. Be sure and keep looking at ACER to see if they state your system can go to Win 7 at a later date as sometime manufacturers will make drivers available which could change its status.

I hit some button while on AOL...and my screen font size changed to LARGE print...How do I change it back?...have gone to my PC settings, etc...cannot fix it...?

I"m assuming you're using Internet Explorer. On the menu bar go to "View" then go to "Text Size" and choose the size of text you want on your web pages.

Windows vista lare icons and text

In changing the icons to normal, did you reset the screen resolution? If not, set the resolution lower, apply, then reset it back to the original (usually 1024x768), then apply.

Compaq presario laptop display problem

Use system restore to bring back the computer to a date before the one you started to have troubles with the screen. After this you may need to reinstall display drivers, as you installed an older version after getting in troubles.
