Although Hard Disk Drives have come a long way - they are still susceptible to shock (g-force) damage.
More than likely the hard disk is damaged beyond repair. There might be a slim possibility that your main board is cracked and cannot access your hardware properly.
Your F2 is just the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) - which initializes all the hardware and chipsets of your computer during startup - which we know is working enough to tell you it cannot see your hard disk (actually a good sign that the rest of the computer is fine)
In either case, You will need to try another hard drive to see if the BIOS sees it - and if so, you are in good shape. If not, then the entire laptop will need to be sent in for repairs.
Laptop hard drives run from $40 to $200. More than likely yours will run no more than $80.

Seems that your notebook's hard drive was physically damaged due to the shock it got after your notebook fell. Try a replacement hard disk.

My aspire 5535 stays at a blank screen with a line blinking at the top left corner

It's unable to read the operating system on the hard drive. Restart, go into BIOS setup (watch carefully when you first turn it on to see if you press F2 or "Delete" to go there), and check the hard disk listing. If you don't see the hard drive model number or the size of the drive listed there, the drive is completely dead.

If the drive is listed, the Master Boot Record or other initialization data is corrupted. In that case, find an install CD or DVD for your operating system and try doing an automatic repair of the installation. if the drive is functional, you'll probably be told to remove the disk and restart. If it is not, you may get an error message indicating the repair process failed.

Acer 5534 won't go into recovery mode using boot disk. I get a disk read error, press ctrl+alt+del then reboots to black screen.

Sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Are there any noises coming from the pc when performing the recovery? Was it doing this previously? Most disk read errors point to the hard drive.

Acer 5534 will not boot up....tried recovery disk....but nothing......error message PXE-E61-media test failure..........no bootable device

Hello:
Your Acer laptop is not detecting a bootable device, for sure your hard disk is:
1.- Malfunctioning and has lost its master boot record.
2.- It can be ruined and must be replaced.

In the first case, primary and recovery partition are bad, as you mention the recovery process failed (ctrl +F11). First, press F2 during POST, when "a enter Setup message" is prompted on the bottom of screen to check if the hard disk is listed on the Main BIOS properties. If detected, the hard disk can be recovered booting from DVD-ROM. In the BIOS setup utility, you need to select boot from de DVD-RW. Insert Windows 7 setup disk and it will check for possible boot errors, choose repair when prompted. Follow the instructions. The system will restart.
If the hard disk was not detected in BIOS properties, you should ask Acer for guarantee.

Well..... i understand that your notebook has dropped and not able to boot with an error.. to isolate this issue i strongly recommend to the steps given below 1. restart the noteboot or press the power button to restart...... 2.Now press the function key F2 this takes you to BIOS which u can see the options in a blue screen. 3. Here in BIOS mode you need to perform HDD self test. If the test failed to examine the hard drive then you need to replace the hard drive.
