It may be that the PC has a separate on/off button for the wireless, and that this has accidentally been moved to the off-position.

Restore FN + F8 key to reactivate Wi-Fi on Toshiba Satellite L500

Hi,
My laptop didnt enable the wifi with the fn+f8 key.
I even reset the cmos and nothing.
Then I went to toshiba drivers website and after installing the "thku" "toshiba hotkey utility" the fn+f8 start working and enable/disable the wifi. It now shows a popup windows when I press the fn+f8 key.

Before the wifi led was always off. Windows detected the wifi device but nothing on the wifi available list.
Now the led is always on, starts orange when I turn on the pc and blue when connected.

On my toshiba satellite L455D-S5976 when i press F8 button nothing happens for wireless. how do i switch wireless lan on/off?

The F8 button is to get into safe mode not for wireless!!!!
There is either a button near the lid to switch it on or off.
Alternatively right click on the wireless icon at the lower left and switch on.

try to press and hold Fn and F8 - this is to toggle screen setting to ext and back to LCD on laptop. if nothing happens turn off computer by pressing power button, unplug the ac adapter, remove the battery. remvoe residual electricity from computer by pressing power button 10 times. just plug again the ac and leave the battery out. Pres and hold the letter D and while holding that press the power button once and release both of them. it will perform the built in self test on the lcd. if nothing happens, turn off computer. press anf hold Fn and while holding it press power button. it will perform diagnosis on computer. if still nothing happens need to repalce motherboard and LCD.

  • Hi, I hope that you are still monitoring this "Website" for a "Solution?" I might be able to help you. Follow these instructions, and we will be able to get you connected. I'm familar with the "Computer Model" that you have, so lets get started! First, click on the (Start button) to open the "Start Menu," next "Type" in the (Search box): "Toshiba." In the Program list; find the Toshiba Application Installer, and "select" to open. The Driver Installer "appear." Now you can select, and install the Wireless Drivers; click on the "Next" button, in the ("choose an item...") window, select the By Name: Wireless LAN Driver, and to the (right), click on the "Install" button. To finish click on the "Exit" button. Note: Follow all instructions thereafter exactly. "I hope this help you, let me know, if possible"

Fn+F8 hotkey dose not work but the remain FX go fine

Another Alternative is to check your BIOS to see whether or not your Wireless is turned on, if it is not pressent in your BIOS then update your BIOS Driver on the Internet to ver 1.4, Double check your version Compatabillity. Next if the adapter driver is installed, follow the following intructions: start -> settings -> control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager -> now look for the wireless adapter, see if it is operational or marked with an error -> if it is marked check that it is configured for automatic, and also the resources. Set the configuration manually if so. restart the system.

1) Resource conflict = change resource settings
2) No adapter = check if the adapter is enabled (Y) then see if there is any conflicts (y) correct the settings e.g. resources and see if windows shows that the device is enabled (N) try to enable this device. If (N) then goto BIOS settings to correct it.

Hope this helps
