Question about Pc America Restaurant Pro Express

RPE Version 10.5 - Cannot split bills by guest. Have turned on guest checks in the restaurant setup screen. Here is what is happening: Let's say we have a table of four. I select the button for G1 and then choose Dish1. G1 appears on the check with Dish 1 X 1. I select G2 then choose Dish 2. G2 appears on the check with Dish 2 X 1. I select G3 then choose Dish 3. G3 appears on the check with Dish 3 X 1. Now, I choose G4 but this guest wants the same dish as G1 so I choose Dish 1. Instead of G4 appearing on the check with Dish 1 X 1 we get G1 with Dish 1 X 2. If I now choose Edit and then Split Checks I get three checks not four. I cannot work out how to get G4's check. If all four guests have something different then the check splits perfectly according to what each one had but if two, or even three, guests at the same table choose the same item it multiplies on the check of the first person to order it instead of showing as an individual choice for each guest. HELP!!!

    This is not solving the issue and is straight from the mutual!

    I repeat, in the Restaurant Setup screen I have selected Order by Guest / Select Before. This will give you a button for each guest in the bottom rh corner of the ordering screen. The idea is to select the guest and then select their order, this should produce an item on the bill with the G number followed by the item followed by the number of this item ordered followed by the price.

    In my case if, for example, I have 4 guests at the table and three of them choose a different food item but one of them chooses the same as one of the others the duplicated item is being added to the check of the first one that ordered it and not on a separate check for the fourth guest so when I want to split the checks I only have three checks to split. Three with one item each and one with two of the same item. I cannot get the fourth check to split the two same items on the third bill.

    I found the answer myself - in the setup screen choose invoices and uncheck Combine Lines.

This is a software bug and has been fixed in later versions of the software. 10.5 is actually quite old, we are using 12.5 now... you will need to request the update through this link, or just call us at 800-722-6374, the link is:

I would recommend you just call, I believe there is a revision for 10.5 that also fixes this bug, something like 10.5.2, which they can give you for free as well.

Hi,

The option of "Split by Guest" will create separate checks for each guest based on what they ordered. This button is
only available if you are using the "Order by Guest" feature that is used to specify which guest is ordering each item. This is a one touch split operation that charges customers based on what they ordered. So, in order to use this option, as you indicated in your question, please ensure that you are using the "Order by Guest" option.

Since we are on this topic, another way to split checks is the "Touch and Drop" method which is a more manual method that
provides the greatest flexibility. Select an item on the main check (or any of the splits) and then drop it onto any one of the splits by selecting the split you would like to place it on.

The first option will resolve your issue. The second is just a helpful tip for you!

How to delete restaurant pro and start over


Backup database first.
Log your license key by trying to register. It should display.
Uninstall RPE from Programs in Control Panel. Then search for the CRE.net folder and rename it CREOLD.net. Then reload RPE.
After install, it will ask you to re-register. It will also ask you if you want to keep existing database. If you are starting from scratch, choose over write with a new one. Otherwise, keep existing db. This will preserve your inventory and menu setup.

RPE Won't start. Can't even get to the credentials/login screen. Database exceptions.


Check to see if the SQL service is running. Go to Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services. These three should be started. SQL Server (PCAMERICA), SQL Server Browser, and SQL Server VSS Writer. It sounds like you are having a connect problem to your database. Did you do any RPE upgrades or conversions? Since you let system set for several months, I assume your free tech support has expired. If not, contact them today. Don't wait. Otherwise, you need tech help. I'm available at a much more reasonable rate than PCAmerica.

I setup a POS for a chain restaurant. I get the PC America with the DELL advertise. This is what I understand. The Main office: PC w/ The RPE Enterprise version. The remote site ( Restaurant) : PC w/ RPE...


I'm not quite sure what your problem is. Do you need help with the entire setup? You should have 3 months of free tech help from PCAmerica if you just purchased/registered this software.

How can we setup the kitchen printer to print larger fonts?


Check your owners manual on how to change the default font size using the printer's buttons. I don't believe there is any adjustment in RPE to do this. Be aware that two things can happen. If you ever reset printer, you will need to adjust font size again. The amount of letters per line of description will be reduced and you may need to revize your description line.
RPE can help by providing you with a second description line for your kitchen printer that is different from your receipt printer. To access this feature, go to the SETUP screen, RESTAURANT FEATURES tab, and set the 'Substitute second description to kitchen printer' option.

I can setup floor plans, employees, & configure menus including modifiers (eg. how would you like that cooked?). I charge $12/hr to setup menus approx 8 hrs for a 2 page menu. Gina 773-807-2000

I am trying to set up my First Data FD100 credit card machine to work with RPE, but am having problems doing so.


I don't think this machine will work within RPE. You should verify this with the vendor that sold you RPE. However, you can set RPE to manually accept credit cards and swipe them seperately with the FD100. Everything will report OK, it just takes more steps and more receipt slips.

Or you can set RPE to process with First Data and buy an MSR to attach to PC to swipe cards. Much quicker process and only RPE receipt(s).

I can not start a shift


Go to your setup screen. Click on SYSTEM ACCESS tab. Click on TIME CLOCK tab. Under SHIFT ASSIGNMENT, click DON'T TRACK SHIFTS. Click the UPDATE button. This should fix problem on RPE version 12.
