Question about Empire Industries Regent Open Toilet Paper Holder Polished Brass - 318-PC

1 Answer

I'm looking for the solution to a problem with a CleanButt BidetSpa (this is no joke). This appliance replaces your toilet seat with a seat that has a built-in, warmed water bidet. It is essential for certain medical problems and disabled individuals. At any rate, my Bidetspa has developed a leak at the port where water exits when the mechanism to flush the tank is activated. When the latch/flush button is depressed, water exits from this port and, after the button is released, there is no leak for a few minutes. After that, it drips once a second. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Does the tank develop cracks on this type of appliance or is it more likely to be an "O" ring or washer? How do I find out what is leaking?

  • Joe Cordell Oct 03, 2010

Thanks drifterK, but we may not be on the same page here. I'm talking about a toilet seat that contains a tank and spray function - a bidet function, if you will. I do not have a leak in the toilet tank. The bidet is a CleanButt model CB-7000R and it is attached to the top of the toilet bowl after the regular seat is removed.

Thanks, drifterK. I'll take it off of the toilet and disassemble it, looking for the source of water. I'm looking for my silicon now.

I don't know yet - I still have to apply the suggested solution and then we'll see if that works

My advice is to cut the water supply first and empty the tank ...cause if after flashing the leak stops and after a while gets back ..even if you do not flash .. it means that the leak is under the top level of the tank ..and this is the reason that it is present all the time but a few minutes after the flash ..
Than , get a plumbing silicon tube ..(lever action) from the local hard store...and just seal the crack inside if it is possible ..and outside on a larger area just to be sure...All you have to do is degrease the surface by cleaning it well with what ever you use to clean the bathroom ..and apply the silicon will seal it well and it is almost colorless ..and this is the advantage ..after the drying will have a rubber like texture..but will not be visible ..and will seal it perfectly ..and it is water-resistant ..
here is an idea about what I'm talking ...
by the way this can be used to seal bathtubs ..and even glue the sink to the wall if the surface is perfectly smooth the rest is usable for various purposes..

to find out where is the exact leaking point ..wipe it dry ..and try with some absorbent paper..and when you find the leak just seal with silicon ..It may be possible to not be a crack but the joint..

BY the way ...from what you told be first ..that for a few minutes after flashing it does not leak means that the leak is somewhere in the superior part of the tank cause it takes a while until it gets to it when it is filling ...look for it on the superior part of the tank...Wipe it dry ...and wrap it in toilet paper..and than release the water ..and see where the first wet point appears ...mark it ..and there is the point where you have to apply a layer of silicon..

the same thing applies...the idea it is a leak ...and you have to locate it ...and after that seal the area with silicon matter what it is made of ..will do ..cause this material will adhere and seal all..
and to locate the crack have to look for it on a dry instance and check with something that indicates the slightest presence of water..if it is not visible with naked eye..

The best and easiest way to find a leak is this.
Goe to the super market and buy some food colouring, place a few drops of the blue into the tank. Wait a minute for the dye to mix and then flush. You will see the leak where you see the blue.

Where can I purchase a new Kohler 85330-cp-17 Teal replacement molded wood elongated toilet seat for our existing toilet?

You cannot. As you state, it is discontinued, confirmed on Kohler site.

If color is really important, consider painting it or a new replacement using an appliance epoxy spray paint such as Rust-Oleum after careful preparation of the surfaces.

Replacement seat....size???

American Standard is the brand, so you've got a start there, but 1.6 is a flush measurement. Look around the inside for a tank for a model number - with AmStan toilets it's usually a four digit number beginning with a 2 or a 4. This will be what you need to get the OEM toilet seat. However, since toilet seats are purely cosmetic (they don't affect the functioning of the toilet), you can literally take a few measurements and find something that simply keeps you off the porcelain. is a good one for toilet seats, btw.

I too have the same toilet seat that needs replaced. Porcher just told me there is NO replacement seat that can be used and they no longer make nor have stock of this toilet seat. I have a local company looking into the problem and will get back to me. For now I am going to take detailed measurements of hinge placement and length/width etc, and take a tape measure to every home imporvement store in the area. Anyone with any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

NEED TO REPLACE THE SEAT AND COVER OF THE TOSCA TOILET'Herbeau%200651%20Monarque%20Toilet%20Seat%20and%20Cover%20Only%20in%20Plain%20White%20-%200651

The picture shown with your post shows a toilet seat that looks like the one sold at site above.
But the site above is selling the toilet seat called the Monarque toilet seat and cover.
The particular seat shown is not called a Tosca.

Another site shows the identical whole toilet, and calls it the Herbeau

The pdf from Eljer showing the Tosca toilet looks very similar to both the products shown on the two links above. Maybe this solves the question.

Try checking plumbing supply houses instead of home improvement stores. Im not sure where you are located. Here in MO. I use Harry Cooper Supply or Riback Supply or Southern Materials. A good supply house should be able to help you find what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Have to replace two new toilets seats, the seats move

Martin, Jacuzzi has a one year warranty on toilet seats so if you have defective seats and they were purchased less than a year it is covered you will have to find a dealer near you, I provided a link for you to accomplish this. How is the seat attached? There should be two plastic screws with a nut on the underside which can be tightened these tend to loosen and nee re-tightening every so often. I hope this has helped. Thanks for using FIXYA, good luck and have a great day. Jeff
