Hi,
Not all vacuums are made to handle water...
Some shop vac type units can be used to pick up water but the filters needs to be removed...
There are a few other units that handle water, but you need to be sure before trying.
post a complete make and model number for the unit oyu are asking about and then good instructions can be given...

Hi,
Check for an obstruction in the hose...most likely you have something stuck in there causing the vacum not to work...

# 1 myou just take the bag out make sure ytou sponge filter is in place athe top and turn it on the power switch just turns on ,machine ther is no wet dry switch just an empty bagless cannister is all you need make sure the ball outlet in vacumn is working it stops water from overfilling cannister # 2 just use the proper bag and attachment to vacumn up the drywall dust a good building supply store has special sanding attachments for vacumn so you can sand and vacumn at the same time

Vacume Overheating


There will be a filter between the cylinder/bag and the engine. If your vacuum has a HEPA filter there will be one on the other side of the engine. Remove both of these and clean them out with water, allow to dry and replace.

Spin vacum won't suck up water


This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter. Or the lid is not locked down all the way.

Is it running out of the bottom of the tank, or at the bottom of the machine. If at the bottom, you have a water line off. If at the bottom of the tank, there is a water seal that the tank sits on, may have to replace that.

My Bissel powerforce vacume filters


Remove the lower half of the dirt bowl by turning counterclockwise. Turn the filter counterclockwise, remove the foam filter and clean both with soap and water.
