You didnt specify what brand or model so I will take a shot at this, does the tool have a high/low selector and if so is it fully engaged in one position or the other?? if not get back to me with the brand and model and I will do some research for you.

I can't get the chuck to work or open to change the drill bit. I have really tried!

Hi Alice:
Is this a "key"? If so, put it in place with the drill pointing up and the key handle pointing level and towards you. A light tap with a hammer on the key handle should loosen it.
If it is a "manual grip", try putting the drill in reverse, and at low speed. Hold the drill handle with your right hand, and hold the grip firmly (really firmly) with your left hand, and squeeze the trigger. It should release the chuck. If it doesn't, try putting a pipe wrench on the grip.... gun facing away from you, wrench from the top, handle on right. gently tap on the wrench handle should loosen it.
Cheers.

How to get screw out of chuck

It should be an allen head screw with machine threads. Place a NEW high quality allen wrench into the head of the screw....not a well worn or rounded off tool....OR a cheap Chinese made soft metal throw away allen wrench.

It should have right handed threads, so hold it securely in one hand then with a quick sharp rap with a hammer hit the allen wrench in a counterclockwise direction. The process may take 4, 5 or 6 tries to succeed.

A second option if you have the tools is to use a 3/8" drive butterfly air tool with the appropriate 3/8" drive long stem allen wrench. Again, hold the drill tightly in one hand and in the CCW direction, energize the butterfly air tool to drive the machine screw out.

I use both methods and haven't lost the battle yet...of course there's always the first....

Bosch 11241EVS won't hammer

Not all bits for hammer drills are the same as the slots in the sides of the shanks are different between makes . There is a standard between hilti and ramset drill bits but other makers have different ideas Check out the shanks of your drill bits and look for the slot that holds in the bit.

THE CHUCK WON'T TURN WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING. YOU CAN HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND AND FEEL IT CLICKING AND HEAR IT WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT?

The DCD950 drill has a chuck that does not require the reverse-threaded lock screw. It is put on with lok-tite and a good deal of torque. It is hard to remove without the Dewalt vice tool to hold it but not impossible. Some can be removed by tightening the chuck in a vice and, using the drill handle for leverage, apply steady, even, strong pressure until it breaks free. Using this method usually bends the part of the chuck in the vice making it useless. Another reason for the chuck not turning when the motor is turning is a broken transmission. If the chuck works properly in tightening down and releasing bits, your problem may be in the transmission. If you go to http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ and search for your model number you can look at a breakdown of your drill and what you're looking at to replace the transmission.

I can't remove the chuck bit from my hammer drill PBH 2000 re

This is normally easy procedure, just press chuck inward and turn clockwise, then retrieve.

This is same way as you will insert/remove your drill from the chuck.

If this method is unsuccessfull, plese rotate knob (close to chuck) anticlockwise till you go to position between chiseling and driling, as this is not lockable position, you need to hold knob in one hand and manipulate chuck with other hand.

This method is described in more detail in manual which comes with hammer-drill.

Hope this solve your problem, this is excellent tool and I always love to use it. Will handle drill up to 20mm in concrete and not even much vibration.

How do i replace the jacob chuck on a hilti hammer drill?

Open the jaws of the chuck all the way open. Inside the chuck you will see a slotted screw. Use a large flat head screw driver and remove screw. It will have left handed threads.

After you remove the screw put the end of the chuck in a vise where the 6 flats sides are. Put the drill in low gear and reverse. Hold tight and turn on the drill. This should run the chuck right off the spindle.
