I keep getting an error message about a paper jam for my printer but there is absolutely no paper jammed anywhere in the machine.

Have you tried a new toner cartridge, The toner cartridge has moving parts, and of the cartridge gets stuck, the printer may indicate a paper jam.

Also paper often tears when clearing jams, and the little shreds of paper can stay in the rollers of the printer and keep it jammed. Make sure to inspect all the rollers to make sure they move freely, and do not have anything stuck in them.

How to clear Paper Jams on your Printer

The flashing error code that indicates a jammed printer in the digital-age is equivalent to a flat tire. Sooner or later it happens to everyone, so you'd better know how to get things moving again if you want to finish your print job.

Difficulty:Moderate

Instructions

Step1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel displaying the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if you can identify the area of the printer where the jam occurred.

Step 2
Turn off the printer.

Step 3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect the printer thoroughly for wrinkled or damaged paper.

Step 4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.

Step 5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.

Step 6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.

Step 7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't exert great force as it may cause the paper to tear again.

Step 8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.

Step 9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper jammed inside the printer. Inspect the paper path once again.

Please help me with printer jam

Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
Turn off the printer.
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
If you get toner or ink on your clothing, wipe it off with a dry cloth and then launder the clothing in cold water.
Watch out for loose toner or ink on jammed paper, and do your best to avoid spilling it on yourself or the printer. If a little bit of loose toner or ink gets in the printer, though, it should clear after a few sheets are printed.
If you think this solution helps you then your token of appreciation in the form of Rating and a testimonial will be esteemed.

Paper jam

Hi,

First I would request you to provide the name and the model of the printer which would helps us to provide you more specific troubleshooting steps for your type of printer. I am providing you some of the trouble shooting stpes which should be ideally done in cases like papaer jam:

* Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.

* Turn off the printer.
* Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
* Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
* If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
* If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly . The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
* If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.
* Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
* If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer.

Hope this would resolve the issue.

Thank you for contacting Fixya.

  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
