Intermittant ice making

When you see this happen can you feel the bottom of the ice maker to see if hot? What is the correct model number? I am trying to understand if it is the ice maker heating element is stuck on while heating the ice maker to release the cubes or if the water control valve is allowing the water to come in through the fill tube like a leaking faucet. 106.57029 ice maker intermittent

there is usually an ice overflow switch or electric eye
sensor telling the ice maker that the bin is full. Something
may be obstructing this.

Ice maker suddenly stopped working. It makes strange noises intermittently, sometimes sounding like a Geiger counter. It no longer draws water. What can I do to diagnose & fix the problem?

Intermittent rattling noise in refrigerator

Do you have an ice maker? That noise could be the ice maker trying unsuccessfully to dump ice, usually caused by a defective heater to loosen the ice cubes prior to dumping them into the container.

Possibly even if your ice maker appears to be functioning normally, it may be attempting to dump ice several times before the ice is actually ejected and if you don't use a lot of ice, you'd never notice it.

Hope this helps.

Ice maker fails to make ice intermittantly

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
