The jar applications are not supported by all phones. Either your phone does not support Jar at all, or the application is not for this particular phone.

First you need to ensure that the phone supports jar files, then ensure that the jar program you want to run has been designed for this phone model.

If this comment has been helpful, then please do not forget to accept the solution.

    Hi.

The provider blocking jar files is quite unusual, in that case the only way to enable jar is by jailbreaking the phone (installing new firmware). That is not possible on all phones. Let me have a look at info on the specific model, in the meanwhile ensure that the file you downloaded is compatible with this model.

    Hi.

First ensure that the jar file is compatible with this model. A good test can be done going to Samsung support and downloading files for the specific model.

Also many Samsung models need also the jad file to install a jar, only files with both jad and jar can be installed.

There is a procedure suggested for this particular model, I don't know if it works, it suggests to do a java update. This may help in broadening the phone compatibility with Java (jar is java file). As stated the procedure will not help if the software has not been designed for this phone. First ensured that you are installing a file that is supported by this model, possibly from Samsung.
    I quote:

    1. Download Driver & File Explorer.
    2. Uncompress SAMSUNG_Composite_USB_Driver_4_34_WHQL.zip and execute Setup.exe.
    3. Connect F480 to PC. First time you should be prompted with a 'device installed and ready' message.
    4. Execute TkFileExplorer_2.2.exe
    5. Go to Settings - COM.
    6. Scroll down Port window: You should get just one COMxx option. Choose it and press OK.
    7. Go to File - Connect. You should get the F480 File System Tree at TkFileExplorer bottom half side.
    8. Go to /Exe/Java/Games
    9. Create a New Folder for your game

    10. At TkFileExplorer PC upper side select game JAD/JAR files and copy
to F480 created folder using drag&drop or right button menu
    Download option.
    11. Repeat steps 9 & 10 for all games you want to install at a time.
    12. Disconnect USB cable
    13. Dial *#6984125*#
    14. Go to Internals (Master Key: *#9072641*#)
    15. Go to Storage Settings and select Update Java DB

Also: this phone does not fully support jar.

If you open the support page here, and click on specification tab, it says that the phone has embedded java games, that does not mean that the phone fully support Java.

More: in the model support: Support for SGH-F480T SAMSUNG

In support page there is no jar support. I don't think that the procedure reported in the forum and echoed in different website will work. 99% of the users say it does not work, and Samsung does not say this model supports Java (that means it is not fully compatible, even if JAVA™ MIDP 2.0 is listed in specs).

Try downloading some of the trials here and let me know if they work. I dont think the seller verified that software is working on this particular model, the apps are simply listed because they are JAVA™ MIDP 2.0 compatible. Try a couple of them and let me know how it goes.

I will go offline for a while. I will answer back asap.

Also try getting more info on the issue by calling Samsung. Number is in support page for your country.

    Hi.

OK, I know the phone supports Java, but the phone supporting Java does not mean that the phone supports any java app.I hope being online when you get back with feedback, recently Fixya got populated with many casual posters leaving quick comments in the hope to score unassigned solutions.
Try also registering with My Samsung and see if there is any jar app available for download straight from Samsung, so that you are sure that the app is compatible with this model.
Please let me know how it goes, this info may be usefult to other owners of this model. From forums all over the Web it looks like there is an issue with Java (jar files) and this phone.

    Good luck.

Hello there

First download the files from the internet or wherever you want to get it from.

Once you have downloaded these files to your computer (remember to put them in a specified folder),

Connect your phone to your computer via bluetooth, usb cable or infrared and send the file into your phone

Ensure you have enough space on your mobile phone to collect the file.

If your mobile phone uses a memory card,it is better to save the file in your memory card..

Whenever you want to launch the file just go to where you have saved it on your phone and select it and it will open

Note that it only works with some Java apps - I don't know which ones work and which don't, you need to try and see. If anyone gets anything to work (or finds it doesn't work) please post a comment ideally with a link to where to download the Java game or app, and I can update this post.

I was able to get Jetris to work, and installed Opera Mini successfully but it wouldn't connect to the Net (could be my network operator, haven't had a chance to try another SIM in it yet). But still no joy with the Gmail Java app.

Here's a step by step:
Download the .jar and .jad files to your computer. There are lots of sites where you can get Java apps etc for mobile phones, e.g. Getjar or for games Mobilerated.

Turn on your Shine phone, make sure it's in Mass Storage mode (see above), then connect it to computer via the supplied USB cable.

Find the phone's internal memory in your file manager. Copy the .jar and .jad files from your computer to paste inside the Others folder of the phone (there's a screenshot showing the main folders of the phone above in this post).

Disconnect the phone using Safely remove hardware (howto: see "Disconnecting" on my Chocolate connectivity post)
On the phone (hit the disconnect/hangup button if you have to), go to Menu, My Stuff, Others folder. Highlight the .jad file. Left soft key Options, pick Install and say yes / go ahead to everything. You can save it in a new folder if you want, and name it. If it's going to work, it'll install fine, and it should then let you immediately open the midlet you've installed.

In future, to launch the game or app you installed, go to Menu, My Stuff, Games & Apps. It'll be there inside Games & Apps or in a folder within Games & Apps if you created one."

I hope this helps (remember to rate this answer).

App problem in sony f305

Sony Ericsson F305 supprots only Java softwares. Download the java apllications which you need from www.getjar.com after selecting your particular mobile model. The extension of the application should be ".Jar" Then transfer this jar file to your mobile and try installing it. The installation files transfered from other mobiles using bluetooth may not be compactible with your mobile. If your problem still exist, then activate the GRPS, go to wap.getjar.com and try downloading the application directly to your mobile. This should work fine. I hope this is helpful to you.
