Question about Seagate (9Y7275557) 400 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Thank you for your information.

Thanks for responding to my problem. I live in Overland Park. See that is what puzzles me. The only thing I did was leave it on. I really never move it. So when you said it might have been dropped, possible but really not sure.

Could something else might be causing this??

Thank you in advanced.

The only other thing could be a mechanical fault. If you still have a warranty on the thing maybe you should take it back for repairs otherwise its a total loss. Thanks

Major Issues!

I would have to suggest having your system professional over viewed by a Live-Tech Support Agent.

There is no cost for the over view just if they do any repair work.

This issue must be reviewed in much greater detail and more information gathered to determine the exact nature of this issue.

Thanks

Where can i purchase the product to get data from hard drive

Hi, you don't say if it's presently in a PC or stand alone? If it's not in a PC, put into one as a secondary drive. Make sure the jumper is set to 'slave'.

http://askbobrankin.com/add_a_second_hard_drive.html

The above link is information.
If you have the hard drive is installed in the computer, and the operating system has failed, try and boot into safe mode and retrieve data that way.
If this is not possible, use a linux live disk and see if you can retrieve data that way. For information about this, follow the next link;

All the above methods are free.

Seagate barracuda 7200.9 (ST3160811AS) SATAII is visible in "BIOS" with the correct information.... ...but no visible in "MY COMPUTER" or "DISK MANAGEMENT" please give me some help...i could find...

Hi Live,

This sort of thing is generally indicative of one of two things. One a failing drive or two a drive controller that isn't supported(or updated) in windows.

If you can reply back with your motherboard make, model and Rev # I will be happy to check if there are any relevant update you may need.

If the updates are not the issure, try using the drive on a newer computer, if it shows up, the motherboard is old and unable to support it properly, if it does the same thing on a newer model chances are it's dying or in it's death throws.

Let me know the above info and how you make out on the newer machine,

Chris

New hard drive

Hi ,

Appreciate the direct "Ask me" again.

I have had very good experience with most brands of hard drives.
  • for durability - Seagate Barracuda;
  • for performance/speed - Western Digital;
  • for high transfer rate - SATA rather than IDE.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi XX,

To my knowledge, if you are installing the Maxtor DiamondMax® 31536H2 as a slave, there are no jumpers required as shown below
