your pic. has shiffted vertically. very easy to fix. open the tv set, located the crt tube(end of the screen) there are four wires going down to the board that is compined in one socet. around that socet, you will find small knobs, look for vertical phase and you could adjust that pic. the adjusting should be done while the tv is on and has pic so be careful, you are dealing with a live electricity. good luck

SOURCE: philips tv 27PT6441/37 horizontal lines about 3in wide on top of the screen.

I'm having the same issue with this TV! From the top of the screen to about two/three inches below there are thousands of horizontal lines with a whitish tinge which seem to be reflecting what is just below these lines! I’ve never seen this issue on any TV ever! From what I am seeing now is that many people are having this issue and more! We should put a class action lawsuit against them! If anyone knows anything, please post the info. Many tech forums are loaded with issues for these TV’s but this issue seems to be prominent!

My mom had two Phillips TV’s; one just under two years, and the other just under a year and Phillips refused to fix either without a large expenditure on her behalf. She told me never to buy Phillips and I should have listened. Phillips used to be a great company so I don’t really know what has happened? This was a TV for my Grandmother and it wasn't at a bad price not to mention the picture was great albeit severely over scanned.

As for her TV, we had it about two weeks over a year and Phillips said there was nothing they could do! They said they would pay for the cost to replace the tube if I took it to one of their dealers but they said the cost to bring it there and repair would fall on me! Also if the issue was not related to the tube I would have to pay everything OOP! The lady laughed on the phone and said even if it had been under six months or under a year they would still only pay to fix the parts and everything else would cost me! WTF?

The moral of the story is NEVER BUY PHILLPS/MAGNOVOX EVER! You might be getting the TV deal of the century but it is not worth it in the long run. I originally thought my mom was nuts, but now looking back considering the issues others are having, and realizing the **** poor way Phillips support deals with ALL problems, they’re simply not worth the money or trouble. I WILL NEVER buy another Phillips, Magnavox, or Funai product ever again, whether it is a TV, clock, DVD player, and/or ANY electronic device! If you do you HAVE BEEN WARNED and WILL BE SORRY!

The text along the sides of the tv screen are not completely in view

you need to change the 'zoom' on the tv by the remote.
Normal mode frames the 4:3 video to the 16:9 picture area by displaying it in its original aspect ratio, with vertical gray or black bars on both sides of the screen. The disadvantage of this method is the fact that the image is small by virtue of not using the entire width of the screen. This is also known as the 4:3 mode.
Full mode Full mode horizontally stretches the 4:3 video evenly across the entire width of the screen. This is the proper mode to display anamorphic video. If used for standard aspect ratio video, everything on the screen will appear wider than normal. Contrast this with anamorphic video displayed without processing on a 4:3 display, in which people on the screen will appear taller than normal. This is also known as the 16:9 mode.
Zoom mode Zoom mode evenly stretches the picture both horizontally and vertically, until the picture fills the entire width of the screen. This crops out the top and bottom of the picture. This mode is used for letterboxed and open matte video.
14:9 mode Main article: 14:9
In 14:9 mode, the picture is magnified more than in Normal mode, but less than in Zoom mode, while retaining the original aspect ratio.
Wide Zoom mode Wide Zoom mode, also called Just mode, Horizon, or Smart Stretch, progressively stretches the picture horizontally, less in the middle and more on the edges. This allows normal aspect ratio video to be displayed across the entire width of the screen, with minimal cropping, and with much less of the unpleasing visual stretching effect of Full mode.

Hello I have monitor samsung Smatron 7Ei the fault is that the picture is very dull with less contrast and bright. CRT heater volgate is ok. Secondly there is a heavy noice when i start it by power...

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ....picture becomes dull (less brightness & less contrast --- that noise is from EHT )........so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching monitor --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, sathyavijayasarathibabu@ymail.com) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact monitor service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily.....

Panasonic SC-HT730 Green picture when showing DVD's

The DVD player of this system will output to a TV on either composite (Yellow jack), component (RGB jacks) and S-Video (a small round jack that looks like a mouse or keyboard connector) jack. Since the tint is off, I would guess that you're using the more desirable component or even the S-video jack. Try removing & re-seating the plugs into the jacks at the DVD and at the TV; then check the picture color. If it still is wrong, try using a different cable type - use a standard video cable between the yellow jacks on both the TV and DVD. You may need to set the TV input to reflect the use of the new jack - and possibly set the DVD to 480i or Interlaced if you used the Progressive Scan or 480P output when using component RGB video cables (Red, Green & Blue). Check for correct color.

Chances are the connection got dirty and caused the color issue - or less likely, the cable or even less likely - the DVD output has failed.

Good luck!

Picture is cut off at top and bottom

Hello This is an indication that your vertical output stage is beginning to malfunction. It could be the vertical output IC or the vertical coupling capacitor. I would suggest using the schematic and an oscilloscope to determine if the signal is correct. You may have to replace the IC or the capacitor.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
