If by that you are asking if a single CTR tube from a projection tv can be replaced, then the answer is yes - on average a tube costs $150.

Noticed scorch marks around base of vr 502 tube. Inserted new one and powering on I saw flashing. Turned off at once. --Is flashing normal in some tubes, or is something feeding the tube amiss?

Vacuum tubes DO NOT FLASH or spark inside. That is not normal.

Service to ALL tube amplifiers,
ALL Electrolytic capacitors should be replace. ALL other capacitors that are NOT DISKS need to be replace too. These caps in particular will destroy tubes and transformers when they fail. Check ALL tubes in a tester, and replace any marginal ones. Make certain that you test them for HK leakage. 6973's will normally have some leakage, but still work fine in a Seeburg. It would really help if I knew what model you were working on.

My 21" Plano TV , replace the Picture Tube becous

It sounds to me like it has the wrong scan coils fitted to the replacement tube and there is no fix for that. You will need to fit the correct tube or have the old tube re built.

My 2005 Equinox has a broken EGR tube, I need to get a replacement tube. Can you please get me the part number?

My tube broke several years ago. The original tube is longer than the replacement. Evidently the GM was unable to make a long tube that would not break. You have a long tube if the input of the EGR (where the tube connects) is higher than the output (where the EGR connects to the intake manifold). If you have the longer tube, you must purchase a replacement from GM which is $200 and includes the short tube, new design EGR valve and a new connector to replace the old EGR electrical connector.

I need to replace a 16.125 tube with a 16" bell universal tube. The universal tube appears to be too large for the rim and the website is under construction where I should be getting the insructions.

the 16"tube cant possibly be too big to replace a 16.125 tube unless it was the wrong tube to begin with, check the tire to see if the proper tube size is located on it

Want to replace bad tube... suggestions for replacement? Mic is noisy from time to time, and I'd like to put a great sounding tube in it to replace what is there.

Hi,

When I have to replace a tube into studiomics, I'm always using Groove Tubes.
In your case you need a 12AY7 or 6072.

Gerard

No volume.

Are the tubes bad? Do they light up? Check the tubes and install replacements if necessary. If it's a preamp tube that went bad, just replace that one tube. If a power tube went bad then replace the set of power tubes. Be sure to get a matched set when replacing power tubes, and to bias them.

How to replace a tube holder or ballast

You can replace a ballast or tube holder if you're fairly familiar with wiring. 1) Turn off the power to the circuit. 2) Remove the tube and the cover plate that conceals the workings. 3) Disconnect or cut the wires to the tube holder or ballast and remove. 4) Strip 1/2" of insulation from the ends of the wires. 5) Mount the component and connect the wires with wire nuts. 6) Replace the cover and tube. 7) Turn the circuit back on. 8) Turn the switch on.

When to replace

Inside a fluorescent light, electricity is delivered to a ballast, which sends a spark through the mercury-vapor-filled tube (or bulb), creating light by activating phosphors that coat the inside of the tube. If any of the components are faulty, the light won't work right. Once you pinpoint the problem, most fixes are very easy. Remember to turn off the power first! Old bulbs blink off and on just before they die; repairs are often simply a matter of replacing the tube or bulb. This problem may also be occurring because of poor contact between the pins at the ends of a tube and the tube holders. If the pins are bent, use needle-nose pliers to straighten them. Clean up the pins and socket contacts with fine sandpaper, and brush away residue. Though gray bands at the ends of tube are normal, black bands indicate that the tube needs to be replaced. If only one end is dark, turn the bulb end-for-end. If the tube is new and these fixes don't work, you may have to replace the starter or ballast. Some fixtures ("A-rated") are quieter than others are, but most fluorescent lights have a slight hum. If the sound seems too loud-- or if you can smell electrical burning-- shut off the power. The ballast is probably either the wrong type, improperly installed, or defective. Replace it or call an electrician. Brand new tubes tend to flicker, as do bulbs that are cold. If an old tube still flickers after it has had a chance to warm up (or after you've warmed up the room), rotate it a couple of times in the tube holders. Try cleaning the tube's end pins. If it still doesn't work, replace it. If only the ends of the tube glow, either the starter or the ballast is defective. Replace the starter, then the ballast.
