Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

Corrupt pictures? Hi just wondered if anyone can help with my problem, I got my camera at Christmas and it has been working fine, until recently the pictures are sometimes either merged with another picture that may not even be on the camera at the time. They have also got lines through them are different contrasts and parts of the picture are in the wrong place. When I look at them on the camera they are fine but when I upload them on to my laptop they go all strange. Does anyone know whyy this is happening? Thank you.

Hi,
.Check the contacts on the memory card are clean, use a pencil eraser or qtip moistened (not wet) with isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts

The card may be badly fragmented if you delete individual pictures regularly, use the format function to clear the card or format it in a card reader on your computer

It may be a faulty memory card, try a different card

If the problem persists it may be a camera fault which will need to be returned to sony.

Dark pictures

There are several possibilities.

1) The camera store screwed up, and your photos are just fine. Have you looked at the photo files on your computer?

2) You accidentally set the camera into manual mode and with settings that don't work for the light. How do the photos look when you preview them on the camera?

3) This is the most likely problem: It sounds like you have accidentally set the "exposure compensation" value. This setting is used to help correct the exposure when shooting a scene that should be mostly white (e.g. in the snow, or bright sand at the beach) because otherwise the camera will make the scene be "medium gray". Check your user manual for instructions on how to set the exposure compensation and make sure it is set to 0.

If your photos are too dark when viewed on the computer and the preview screen, and EV is set to 0, then your camera may have a faulty light meter. If so, you need to send it in for repair under the warranty, or return it to the place of purchase as defective and see if they will exchange it for you.

Canon UXUS i pc 1060 pictures bleached white

Hi,

I've got the same problem.

Happened just two months ago. I was outside taking pictures by a campfire, so I wonder if the smoke had something to do with it.

Movie mode is fine, but regular photos are either all white or with strange horizontal lines, not clear at all.

I'm going to open it up and reseat all the connections.

Anything else to try?

Anyone else have this problem or know what to do?

Jpg files corrupt

After you've donloaded your pictures, have you tried formatting your card in the camera? Press the Menu button, then go to the settings (tools) menu. Go down to the Format option. Select "Low Level" format if available in your menu. Again make sure that you have downloaded your pictures first as this will also erase your card.

If the above doesn't work, have you tried using an SD card reader? If so, the next thing to try would be a different card reader. And finally, have you done a recent sweep for spyware on your computer. Spyware can cause temporary hangup/hiccups that could potentially corrupt your download.

Cannot read xD card

Sounds like th FAT (file allocation table) is corrupt, its like the table of contents and if it goes, there is no way the camera knows where it put the pics, there is data recovery programs available online that can help. All is NOT lost....

Upload images to SD card

I just purchased a frame and wondered the same thing. My computer has a slot for an SD card once inserted the computer shows the SD file. Then go into where you store the pictures highlight the picture one at a time in the picture file my program says copy to file click on it and shows the SD file as F file click copyit then downloads to the card. Done put SD card in frame worked perfectly.
