Take the the memory card out. On the side of the card, there is a notch, it moves up and down. If you see it up, move it down or vice versa. It should unlock it. Then put it back and turn the camera on.

This notch serves as a write protect feature of the memory card. If this thing breaks, the card will remain protected and you can no longer writable.

If this fails, try inserting another card, if shows the same error, it means you camera needs repair.

I need to remove the write protect sign on my camera

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have a sanyo vpc-s880 digital camera and when I turn it on it says protected card. What is a protected card? How do you fix it?

It's saying that because the lock switch on your memory card is in the 'locked' position, take it out and slide the small switch on the side to 'unlocked' (open padlock sign) position. then reinsert it and check.

I am getting a card locked sign

Remove the memory card from the camera, along one edge you will see a small switch, slide it towards the contacts this will unlock it, if farthest from the contacts it is in the lock position to protect photo's from eraser. If the switch is in the unlock position and the card is still locked, slide it back and forth once or twice to get the card to reset.

When i try using my camera is sign pops up that states card is lock

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

THERE IS A LOCK SIGN ON D CAMERA WHEN I TURN IT ON AND IT'S STOPPING ME FROM TAKING PICTURES HOW DO I GET THE LOCK SIGH OFF SO I CAN TAKE PICTURES.

It is hard to help without knowing what camera you have.

Maybe your memory card is locked. SD cards have a tiny switch that can be set to stop the memory being written to. But I don't know if that is the kind of memory card your camera uses.
