Question about LG DLE2532W Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Removing LG dryer top plate

I'd like to remove the top plate on my DLE2532W LG dryer to replace the thermostat instead of having to call a serviceman yet again.

But the service manual shows that two 'openers' are required to release a catch. Looks like just a flat piece of metal with a handle.

Where could I get such a tool or what could I used instead ?

Any help would be appreciated.

If your going to do this..... UNPLUG THE UNIT FIRST OR TURN OFF THE POWER.
You can use a 1" paint scraper, it will do the trick, but get one that is strong.
Why is your thermostat blowing though? Do you have a venting problem that may be causing it?

How do I get the back off of my LG DLE2532W dryer to lubercate the belt

Do not disassemble from the back. Everything is serviceable from the front. You will need to remove the top panel, control panel, front panel and drum assembly in that order to gain access to the internal parts for lubrication.
Good luck

MY dryer won't heat

Check the dual-breakers for the dryer in the house electrical panel--push off, then on. If no help, then the heating element(s) in the dryer may be burned out or the internal thermostat is defective, both of which are accessible after removing the drum. After repair, vacuum out all air ducts including the hose to the outside. Also, wash the lint filter in hot water and detergent to remove fabric softener deposits that block air flow.

Sounds like the heater element is bad that is the main cause for them not to heat up . Their should be a cover on the back that comes off and you can get to the heater element after removing it .

DLE2532W is an electric heat model. (a gas model would be a DLG......) To get a rear control LG dryer apart: Open door and remove two phillips head screws at the 5 and 7 o'clock positions. Use a putty knife to release the clips holding the top panel to the dryer front by pushing the clips in at the seam of the dryer top and front, a couple inches in from each side. Swing top back. Remove two phillips head screws at the top, allowing front panel to pull forward. Unplug drum light and door switch and drum sensor plugs, allowing front panel to be completely removed and set aside. Now, look at the burner area at the lower right. Behind the gas valve you will find a small (about dime sized) high limit thermostat on the left side of the burner cone. It has two wires attached and has a small pin in the center of it. (Only on gas models) Push the pin in.
Now, if that get's you ignition again, CORRECT VENTING ! Get rid of flexible vent material. (use only rigid aluminum vent pipe and elbows) Clean out vent pipes and outside vent hood. Outside vent hood should be the kind with a four inch flap for the opening, not a two inch flap. Tripping of the high limit thermo is almost always caused by inadequate air flow.
