Question about BenQ Computers & Internet

Benq 19" monitor not working every time when computer started

My 19" Benq montior is tempermental when I start my computer. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

When it doesn't work, I get a few dos type prompts (ie boot log) on the screen. eg memory testing etc. The font of these dos words are not as well lit compared to when the monitor works, almost as if the monitor is not getting enough power. The monitor then fails to show anything else - it remains blank.

Obviously, when the monitor works I get a better lit dos prompt immediately after startup. I can then continue to see the dos window commands on the screen as the computer starts up (eg detecting IDE drives etc). In these situations I have no problems with the screen.

I have recently had a windows xp rebuild hoping the problem would go away. It did not help. Would appreciate any assistance you can provide?

    Thanks for the ideas.

There are no problem with the monitor cable or the computer. I have tried connecting using both analogue cable and digital cable and the same thing happens. Any other ideas?

Check your connections and make sure they are tight, and there are no bent pins. If everything seems ok, you might want to try plugging this monitor into a different computer or plug a different
monitor into yours to determine whether it's the monitor, the video card, or maybe the driver (doubtful on this as you state it seems to be bad somethimes on boot).

Have you tried the monitor on another system? If not, I would suggest doing that and seeing if it acts the same. If it does work ok on a different system, it's probably a bad video card. If it does the same thing on a different system, it's probable an issue with the power supply in the monitor, and more than likely cheaper to replace the monitor than repair these days.

I have Benq 19" FP93GX

That sounds like the power section may have problems and is radiating electronics noise ie signals.
If you have warranty get it fixed or replace it. Unfortunately Benq has had quality issues over the years. Sometimes parts and other times assembly. Your's might have both going on at the same time. Monitors are so cheap to buy that they are generally not worth fixing if you have to pay for it. I'm using a benq now and it is one I had to resolder a few places on the board before it worked properly.

1. check the connection of between your monitor and your PC.(maybe there's a loosed connection or something) then observe. still have problem proceed to step 2.

I have no picture on my flat screen montior im using a older montior and its works

If the monitor light comes on but you get an "out of range" message, you'll have to start the computer in "VGA mode". Probably your video card is set to a resolution that the monitor won't display.
Just a thought, as you didn't say anything but you don't have a picture.
If this doesn't work, check the power and cord and video cable before you declare it dead.

Benq 19' LCD Screen 3 yrs old- no signal detected on brand new PC

Have a look at the back of your computer.

See if there is more than 1 video port.

If there are 2 ports try plugging the monitor into the other port....

Sometimes motherboards have internal video cards, in this case the video port is in among the USB ports, sound and mike sockets etc.

Look for a video port away from all those other things.

Montiors shut off

if the monitor goes into standbye when you plug it into the computer , it generally means there is NO signal coming from your video adaptor.
Plug the old monitor in , if it works, ide suspect the new monitor(s) are not working correctly.
if it doesnt work , you need to restart the computer in safe mode by repettitively tapping the f8 button as the computer starts, before it says "starting windows".
If you have a signal on your monitor in safe mode, then most likely you have a bad or corrupted video driver and it will need to be updated.
if you have no video in safe mode , you will need to remove the cover and physiclly check that all add-in card power cables and memory chips are squarly seatied in there slots. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE COMPUTER AND DISCHARGE ANY STAIC BUILDUP IN YOURSELF BY GROUNDING (TOUCHING) SOMETHING METAL BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE THE COMPUTER.
