Question about SVP PS9700 Film Scanner

1 Answer

I have recently purchased the SVP Digital Film/Slide Scanner for the purpose of scanning slides and my initial response to the product is very favorable. I have however found that loading the slides into the plastic holder is quite slow and I am wondering if I can purchase additional plastic slide holders for this model so that one person could be scanning while the other is loading the holders? I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Jeanette

Scanner doesn't recognise their is a slide loaded in the slide holder

The first thing I'd try is to run the scanner with the Nikon software. When you power on the scanner it goes through a variety of checks, and finally you should have a silent scanner with a solid green light at the front. Start the Nikon software and wait until it finds the scanner, if it doesn't you have a hardware problem with the scanner.

If it goes well to this point insert a card or plastic mounted slide and hit Preview. The scanner should then create and image you see on screen. Next step would be to make a scan. If the slide you're trying to scan isn't card or plastic mounted you'll need the Nikon made carrier.

Hope this helps.

Can HP psc 1410 PRINTER SCAN NEGATIVE AND SLIDES

Chances are that somewhere in your family photo collections you have a bunch of slides and negatives that you wish you could do more with. You may want to include them in your family history, to publish them on the Web, or simply to make digital copies so you can share them with the family.

If you've ever tried to scan a negative or slide on a regular flatbed scanner, you'll know that it doesn't work, and you end up with a pure black scan. In this article we'll show you how you get your negatives and slides into digital format, and what issues you may face along the way.

pixblue.gif Benefits Of Scanning Film

There are some key benefits to scanning film (we'll use the term to include slides and negatives) in comparison to scanning a photo. When you scan film, you can use the full area of the slide or negative, whereas a photo will generally only display a cropped portion of the original. You are also scanning the original source image rather than the color corrected and tweaked version of it that the photo processor has provided you with. The process of turning a negative image into a positive one involves inverting the colors in the image and removing the orange cast from the negative. This would be a complicated process if you were doing it by hand; however, your scanner will provide you with software to do this automatically, or you can purchase standalone software to do it.

Most cheaper flatbed scanners are designed to scan photos and other images that reflect light when it is shone onto them. The problem is that film is transparent and light passes through it rather than being reflected off it. Many flatbed scanners have an optional transparency adapter, which replaces the scanner lid with a larger box shaped ob....

Where can I get my Digital Camera or Film Scanner repaired?

Digital Camera and Film Scanner repair: If you are experiencing a problem with a Konica Minolta, Minolta, or Konica brand digital product, please send this item to: Konica Minolta Photo Imaging U.S.A, Inc. Camera Division Attn: Digital Repair 725 Darlington Avenue Mahwah, NJ 07430 When sending in a digital product for service regarding an image quality issue please include a sample image or scan. For scanners also include the actual slide or negative you are trying to scan. This will help our technicians verify and correct any anomalies. Please pack your product in the following way: Place the product in a sealed plastic bag. (Please do not use tape to seal the bag.) Place the bagged product inside a sturdy corrugated cardboard box. Place enough dry packing material around the bagged prodcut to make sure it does not travel within the box during shipment. The best material to use is foam packing "peanuts." You can also use popcorn. Please include a detailed description of the problem(s) you are experiencing. If this item is under warranty, please include photocopies of your dated sales slip and Warranty Card.
