What program are you trying to use to do voice chat, and is there a volume control there?

I personally prefer a USB microphone because they generally have a much better quality than most headphone/microphone combinations.

Hello,

Usually when you double click the speaker icon in the system tray you'll see the volume settings for all your devices. On microphone there is usually an check box for mic boost. Set those to mic boost. Then check that all the sliders in the volumes are one increment below the top but maximum for Wave. Then set the master volume to a comfortable loudness This you can access by a single click to the speaker icon.

Next, you can go to Control Box, click on Sounds and check the settings for speakers/headphone and also for recording where there is usually a routine for checking the recording settings via your microphone made available to you.

Please do not hesitate to ask me for more information and kindly be specific if you can. I'm here to help and will get back to you in a reasonable period of time.

Hope this fixed your problem and thanks for using Fixya.

Regards,
Worldvet

Your microphone must be on Mute. Click on Speaker icon on the bottom right -> click on "Mixer" -> if you see any of the volumes muted increase their volume and see if problem is solved. Try using a headphone + mic that are made for chatting.

My inbuilt microphone not working i m not able to chat my voice is not audible to other during chat

I guess it is not activated...so ..without input another mic...if your sound is ok ...means that the sound driver is ok ..
Double click on the volume icon in the right on the task bar(tray system ) ..and it will open a window with volume controls ..for each device ...if you do not see the mic in the list ...go in the left and click options ..and properties..it will open a window with devices,,, choose the mic from the list and click on the case to select it ..
and ok ...after that the mic will appear in the volume control ...activated...be sure the volume is up ...and the mute case is not selected..and restart ...it should work in this moment if it is all functional ..in the physical sense ...

Voice in both headphone and laptop speaker so its worthless to us

hi!
You need to adjust a little bit lower in your master volume settings for the microphone. including the master volume.
You can find it at the buttom navigation bar If your're using windows XP. Try to adjust the settings. Your headphone had a mic therefore u need to test it until such time ur speakers will not echo.....

Please reply so that we can diagnose a better option.
