As far as your problem is concern, i would like to think that power supply is not the problem of your laptop. You may try to check for your configuration on your desktop maybe you or somebody might programed it. You can try this procedure to verify.

Step 1. right click on your desktop anywhere in a free area, select screen saver, select Power button, click for Hibernate button and check whether it is check. If it is checked chances are your PC will shutdown after some time, better uncheck it. hope to hear any feedback for other support

Greetings,

I'm an actual laptop expert and deal with Toshibas often, tearing them all the way down to the last screw and re-assembling, replacing any and all parts necessary, except the one that is (I believe) your problem.

1. You have a damaged or slightly disconnected DC Power Jack where the cord plugs into the laptop. It's impedeing the proper flow of current, backing electricity into your power supplies and (wisely) using its built in temp control, shutting your laptop off to save the motherboard.

2. Go to eBay and in their search window type in, "DC Power Jack Repair" Take your time. Choose a company that is conforatable and successful with Toshibas. Choose only a company that require you to send in the entire laptop. Choose only a company with a perfect or near perfect % rating. Choose only a company that quotes a FLAT RATE AND NO OTHER. Make arrangements and expect to pay from $100 to $125.

PLease don't trash my rating before you call one of them and let them help you. I help alot here for free and 2 stars just dinks my rating down incrememntally. I'd rather have none.

My Best Regards,

The Selkie

This is most likely not an issue with the power adapter, but more with the processor/graphics processor overheating and triggering a shutdown to prevent damage. Power adapters for laptops usually tend to run at a very warm temperature, this is normal. However, if there is sufficient dust buildup clogging the fan/vents or if the laptop is being placed on an uneven surface that may block the vents, then the laptop can easily overheat and shutdown.

If you are comfortable taking apart your laptop you can clean the fans/heatsink with compressed air and replace the thermal paste. Otherwise a computer technician can easily do this for you.

note: buying a cooling pad merely prolongs the issue, they are not a solution to the growing problem.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

That is very straightforward.
Press F8 just before the system boots and choose restore.
That will find your restore partition on drive "E". Just follow the prompts.
To install the current drivers; When the system has installed itself go online to toshiba.com , log in your laptop details and the drivers will be located for you.
A wonderful system!
