Question about Lexmark X4270 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Will not print at all. have reinstall driver, check port but printer is still not communicating with computer. Please advice

Greetings,

Oftentimes the uninstall and re-install of a printer driver/software package is not thorough.

These are the steps.

1. Uninstall the printer from the contorl panel and always choose complete removal of all associated items or preferences.
2. Restrat the computer
3. Go to the Lexmark Support Page and forget you own a disk. Track down the exact model of your printer and your current operating system
4. Download the driver/software by saving it to your desktop, not RUN.
5. Hold down the Windows Logo key at bottom left of keyboard and press the R key. Your temp file window will appear (uninstalls leave behind unwanted and interfering files that Lexmark does not remove as it should). Delete every file in that window that "Windows" (whatever version) will allow.
6. Restart your computer.
7. Disconnect your printer from the computer but leave it powered on
8. Double click on file on your Desktop for the new install of your printer driver/software. DO NOT connect the printer until prompted.
9. Complete the installation.

You might have to uninstall the printer restart your computer then reinstall your printer
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow?question mark this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver,disable,uninstall or select properties again you will have the similiar options also you can troubleshoot the device

this usually happens if there is a misconfiguration in the printer settings.
make sure that the bidirectioinal mode is set. you can check it in START > CONTROL PANEL > then look for the PRINTERS folder > right click on the printer and choose PROPERTIES > go to the PORTS tab and put a check on the BIDIRECTIONAL SUPPORT. You should be good to go. Otherwise uninstall and reinstall the Printer Driver.

I use my printer to print lots and lots of tickets everyday using photopaper. Suddenly my printer cant print and error 5100 always appers. please halp

Printing is not coming


On the 'Ports' tab of 'Printer Properties' window, select the correct port for the printer driver.
  1. From the Windows desktop, open the printer's properties window.

  2. Click the Ports tab.

  3. Below 'Print to the following port(s)' section, select the port to which your printer is connected.
    Example: In this example, the printer is connected to 'Virtual printer port for USB001'.

  4. Click 'Apply' to accept the changes.

  5. Click General tab and then click 'Print Test Page' to confirm the changes corrected the issue.

Other devices attached to the computer can block proper communication.
  1. Check to see if there are any devices (other than USB keyboards or mice) connected to the computer.

  2. Disconnect the device(s) and restart the computer.

  3. Once the computer has restarted, attempt your process again.

My HP 1120cxi was workinh fine until i reinstalled windows XP pro. now it doesnt print. tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and driver, but it just prints 1 line of gibberish

Cannot install Dell 1700 printer on Dell laptop. Laptop will not recognize the printer through the USB port.


1. check if any other usb port is working or not.
2. check if you can print through the printer or not.
3. try to reinstall the drivers from support.dell.com, select your printer model and then download the drivers for your printer.
4. if again its giving the communication failure, then the integrated circut which suport the communication from printer to computer is dead.
5. contact a local technican who can fix this
6. more economical, get another printer AIO.
7. also, check if any other USb device is getting recognised or not
8. if yes, then the problem is the printer IC.
9. if no. then we need to install the drivers for the computer chipset.
10. go to the computer manufacturer's website select your computer and thengo to drivers and download the drivers for your computer chipset.
11. if that doesnot fix you need to reinstall the operating system.
12. post another question selecting your computer model if this happens

I have seen that in most of the cases (with lexmark and dell printers) it is fixed by reinstalling the printer software. Be sure that you completely remove the older drivers using the cd or using add/remove programs.

I just put new ink Cartridges but still wont print


Hello,

Most of the time the "problem communicating with the printer" message pops up on Lexmark X1185 series when the driver gets corrupted. The best fix for this issue would be to uninstall the software first. Try connecting the USB to a different USB port (Please avoid using USB hubs, if any) and then reinstall the software. This should normally fix the printer communication issues!
