Question about Computers & Internet

I'm having problems configuring two APs and Wireless routers. I'm trying to give them a layer of security and different SSIDs. They all dlink products: the 2 APs are 8200APs and the other two are wireless routers DL 615. I'm connecting them all to my main router and giving them a static address. Then afterwards, I'm trying to access them but cant get into them?? Can an expert help me here??

All AP devices must use the same SSID, wireless channel, authentication mode (if any), and encryption mode.

Did you enter the security key (password)? It may be your laptop? Try resetting the D-Link to default settings and connecting to the laptop. They reconfigure the SSID and Security Key. Write down the info for future use. Here's a user Manual: http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solutions/connect/routers/dir-600-wireless-n-150-home-router

You need to go into the DLink wireless router's configuration.
Connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DLink's LAN port, open a Browser and enter the DLink's configuration URL (http://102.168.0.1)
login and enter the admin password. Then go to the wireless settings and change the wireless channel.

Hi, I have a netgear DG834G version 3 wireless router. I want to buy a wireless printer, will this router support one? If so, have you any opinions on the best buy? Thanks

any wireless printer should and will work with this modem-router as long as it's wireless settings are configured right, if you already have a computer connecting to this router wirelessly then that means the wireless functionality of your router is working. you just have to know the wireless settings of your router such as the SSID or the wireless network name, the type of wireless security and the wireless security key or encryption key.. once you have a wireless computer and it wireless feature is enabled it will automatically detect all networks name or SSIDs around the area, that includes your modem-router's and neighbors'.. when you try to connect to the SSID of your modem-router you will be asked for an encryption key or a password to be able to connect.. that will only happen if you have enabled a wireless security on your modem-router.

I haven't come across this problem before.
Try resetting the Dlink back to the factory defaults and configure the Dlink again.
Power off the Dlink for a couple of mins. then power it up and press the Reset button on the back of the Dlink for at leasr 5 secs. until the LEDs flash, then configure the Dlink again. If you use different SSID and encryption settings etc., then you need to configure the wireless card in the computers with these settings

DI-524 wired/wireless access point

Just for fun, make the router give out IP addresses starting at 192.168.0.101 forward. Configure the AP at 192.168.0.2 with no DHCP (the host will give out the addresses), a netmask of 255.255.255.0, and a gateway of 192.168.0.1. Now, let the laptop find DHCP, or give it a 192.168.0.x address where x is greater than 2 but less than 101.

How lucky is that?

Dlink dir 300 internet problem

First you have to make sure that you connected it correctly. the cable coming out of the modem should be connected to the single port (Internet port) at the right when facing the back of the router.

All computers that are wired through it should be able to access the internet. if one of your computers cannot access the internet you may want to check the IP address that you are getting. (go to a command prompt and type ipconfig).

If you are connecting a wireless computer check the wireless security setting which you can find at the configuration (setup) page of the router. to access the configuration page check the owner's manual.

Lost disk for d-link router

You may download it on the Dlink's download site. You may go to this link and select the correct model number and revision of your router.

http://support.dlink.com/downloads/

Just download the Quick Router Setup.

You may also manually configure the wireless security of the router. The instructions is posted on Dlink's Knowledge Base.

http://support.dlink.com/supportfaq/

Just select the model number of your router and click GO. Then click on Wireless Encryption and select the type of encryption you want to configure on the router.

First check to be sure the ip address of the router IS 192.168.0.1, do this by clicking Start/Run and in the Run window type CMD and hit the enter key, this will give you the MS/DOS command window, at the courser type ipconfig /all, then check the ip address shown for the gateway which is your router. If the ip is correct, put a cat 5 cable from the router to the computer and type http://192.168.0.1 if that is the correct ip address and if it does not give you the logon page for the router reset to router to factory defaults as per owners manual. if this works please rate the solution as a FixYa. Thanks BPCS

Wireless Connection

have you tried connecting using ethernet cable and observed everything is ok?, i mean you can connect to internet?. if so, try to disabled first the wireless security of the router, then try connecting again thru wireless, if you can succesfully connect, then it's on the security setting you missed to provide, like selecting either "open", "shared", or "automatic".
