Question about Vacuums

2 Answers

This is a very new vacuum, not even 3 months old. The beater bar stopped functioning. So does the light in the switch for the bar up on the handle. Inside the lower section all looks well and new, cause it is new. All wiring and connections look fine. The motor for the bar looks fine as does the belt and pullley. I have no idea where to look for technical advise. The vacuum shops around where I live ( Howell, MI) do not want to touch a HALO vacuum cleaner. Thank you for some suggestions and your time. Regards, Hans Meulenbroek

There may be a reset for the vacuum in case you get something caught in the brushroll section of the vacuum

There can be 3 components at fault
1.pulley and belt system
2.Motor.
3.Switch
You yourself negate the first possibility.
a brard new machine shouls not have a motor problem.
Actually the culprit is the switch as light in the switch for the bar up on the handle is not working.try replacing this component and your machine should work , else we omly have a chance with the motor.
if you need to replace any component following manual may help.

This sounds to me like a switch has failed, since you've probably checked everything for loose connections. There's also the possibility that a connector isn't "making" with a wire, or something tricky like that. I, personally, would try to get an exchange for it- it certainly shouldn't be having problems being this new, even though it has a 30 days warranty.
The following website has a lot of similar problems that you're having, and this machine really sounds like it has some serious problems:

I would try to get my money back, even though they won't want to. Contact Oreck and see if you can get them to at least exchange it for a unit that will, hopefully, work.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Beater bar intermently stops turning

It's likely that the belt is just slipping. Remove the bar and clean all hair, threads and other debris it collects in the bristles and around the ends. Check the belt for wear of the rubber; it may have teeth on it unless they were worn off from slipping. In that case you need a new one but save the old one for it's model number to purchase on line.

Good day!

Normally when the motor is easily moved back and forth means that it have a proper lubrication, proper alignment and no clogs.

When the motor and the belt is OK the problem could be on electrical wiring and switch.

If found electrical switch burned out you need to replaced it because when the switch is burn the contact of that switch is open even you turn it ON.that's why the motor is not function because the voltage is not pass through the circuit because of open switch. You need to replaced it.
And check some fuses if any and other burned electrical wire.Replaced it also.

Thank you and don't forget to rate my answer.

Why did the brushes stop rotating?

It could be a few different reasons, 1. The belt is broken, 2. The motor has died, 3. There is an obstruction, or some such thing stopping the bar from rotating (often hair and/or string) 4. The contact switch is defective. (switch that turns beater bar on when handle is tilted back) Hope this helps

Beater bar on Dyson upright won't turn when handle is lowered

I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
This my new year resolution is to warn people not to buy Dyson vacuum cleaner ( Junk) design to break down! Shame on you Dyson!!!! Save your money find good old vacuum cleaner with metal parts.

OLD IS IN NEW IS JUNK!

Happy New Year!

Beater Bar Does not turn

YOU MAY HAVE A POSSIBLE BAD BELT OR THE MOTOR THAT RUNS THE BAR MAY BE BAD, THE OTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE SWITCH THAT TURNS ON THE BAR MAY BE BAD. OR A WIRE COULD HAVE COME OFF THE MOTOR. i THINK YOU DO KNOW THAT THE BEATER BAR DOES NOT RUN WHEN ON WOOD FLOORS.

They just stopped working!

Hoover has a 1 year warranty on their vacuums, so the newer one will be under warranty. The other won't be. It could be bad switches, even tho they sound ok, they could still be bad, One side of the cord could be open, there is also a thermostat on the motors, it may have opened up, then of course could even be the motor. Just would have to be check over.

Brush stops

This really sounds like a belt problem. Even if it looks OK, it may have stretched. New belts are cheap, and you'll need a new one eventually - if the old one turns out to be fine, you can always keep it as a spare. A second possibility is this: Many cleaners have a control which allows you to switch off the brush/beater bar so you can clean wooden floors without damaging them (for instance, mine has a pedal-operated bar which shunts the belt between two adjacent pulleys on the brush roller, one of which is properly keyed on, and the other of which is a loose fit allowing the roller to idle. If you have something like this on your cleaner, check you have the brushes switched on, and that the mechanism is working properly. A.
