Question about Olympus SP800UZ Digital Camera

1 Answer

Olympus SP800uz. The camera makes sound when I focus on any object, like some motor is moving inside even if I am not using zoom. The sound increases gradually when used for some time.

You are possibly using an Fulltime AF mode for focussing.See user manual page 34 or the AF mode is set to AF Tracking. If these modi are set, the camera continuously tries to focus on the subject, hence the sound.

How can I use zoom when I am filming with my Olympus sp800z ?

Turn off the sound recording. The camera will not let you use the optical zoom while recording sound so as not to record the sound of the lens zooming. See page 16 of this manual.

I can't seem to zoom in or out and I can't use other functions. And I can't view what I pictured.

has the camera been dropped? sounds like there might be either a loose internal connection(s) or a broke board inside the camera. check the warranty if none then refer to local camera service tech.

Zoom error in my olympus sp800uz digital camera

1. Take the battery out of the camera, put it back after several minutes and check.

2. If that does not help, your camera needs to be repaired.

I have a new SP-800UZ that will not focus sharply on distant objects using the 30 X zoom. Do you know how i can get rid of the problem or get rid of the camera. I have tried all settings but mostly on P...

Look within the settings within the camera's setup menu (I am not too clued-up with this model but I'll try) Look for things like sharpness, photo effects, ISO modes and resolution. make sure the sharpness is set toward the sharper end of the scale, that there no added effects enabled and that the ISO mode (if not in auto) is set between 100 and 600.
Also, if you are using digital zoom you will reduce picture quality.
Finally, using maximum zoom requires a very steady hand (or a tripod) as the slightest shake or twitch will be amplified many times at the target - end of the shot.
Good luck Bill, hope this helped a bit.

When i turn on my camera to take a pic it is blurry but if i zoom the lens all the way close to the object it takes a good pic.

Your auto-focus is not working. Inside the camera is a motor that adjusts the lens to focus on an object automatically. It is currently stuck to "close" or near focus. However, it doesn't go far focus. Check the focus functions of you camera - try to use manual focus.

My Olympus 740 digital camera does not auto focus any more. I can make it focus for the most part by zooming in, but is there anything I can do to make it start up focused? I had another Olympus camera...

Take it off manual focus? There may be an "all reset" option in one of the menus that makes the camera factory default whenever its turned on, usually this is full auto mode. If the camera will only focus when the zoom is used, there may be a secondary lens inside the lens barrel that is not moving as it should. Time to service it if that is the case.

Lens Problem

Mine was exactly the same. They seem to work fine, just give the camera time to focus. After a while, I tired of the slow pace of the C8080 and sold it, moved on to the Konica Minolta A2 which is a much more responsive camera. I've since pretty much stopped using it too: the Pentax *ist DS DSLR is a near perfect fit for the photography I love to do and works the way I want a camera to.

Shutter Lag

Card speed won't interfere with shutter lag. The lag is much less (near non-existent) if you pre-focus. Or use manual focus with small enough aperture to get lots of depth of field. Make sure your kids are in the focus zone and just snap away.

If you zoom to less than 12x

Sorry you're having such a problem with the fz1 w/b-macro. Here is a shot of the stock fz1 w/b-macro at full 12x zoom - resized only. Try practicing on still objects such as coins or jewlery. If you are beyond 10-12 inches you are probably too far away.
