sometimes you need to have the computer off before hooking up such a connection so the video card can identify the screen being used when the computer is first turned on.... also maybe incompatible with the adaptor

Make sure your VGA chord is connected to both TV and Computer. Right click on your desktop and go to screen resolutions. Click on Connect to a Projector and click the Duplicate icon.

How do I fix the error no vga input signal no dvi input signal monitor going to sleep

Check if you VGA is properly settled in the PCI slot. Try to take it out, clean the slot for dust.
If that doesn't help, it is well possible that you VGA is not working any more.

A compaq sr1000 need to know what no VGA input means. Will no allow my computer to come on

Welcome to FixYa

No VGA input means that the computer is not detecting video input from the video card. Usually you get this message if the video card of your system is not functional, the VGA cable is unplugged or the VGA cable is defective. To try and remedy this problem try these.

Check if you can hear sound coming from the system. If the video card is functioning then you should here the startup audio from windows.

Check the VGA connection on the back of the system. The VGA cable looks like thismalups_6.jpg

Please note that the VGA cable has two screws, make sure that both are fastened correctly

If the VGA cable is plugged in and you cant hear audio coming from the system. Then this would likely be caused by a defective video card on your computer

Hope this helps

I want to connect my computer to my Vizio TV to watch movies via netflix on my TV screen. If HDMI on TV end, what connection do I need to connect to the back of computer?

What "video-inputs" does your TV have:

* composite video (single cable for video, two cables for LEFT/RIGHT audio)
* component video (RED/GREEN/BLUE cables for video, plus RED/WHITE cables for stereo audio)
* DVI or VGA input
* HDMI input
* S-Video (similar to PS/2 keyboard/mouse, in size, and "round" shape)

What outputs does your computer's video-card have:

* composite (post-and-ring)
* S-Video
* DVI
* VGA
* HDMI

Just match them up.

When you turn the television on, the screen is blank except for the letters/words: VGA NO SIGNAL We called our cable company and all their suggestions did not work. Could you...

Are you trying to watch tv or use it for the computer? The input or source selection is on VGA at the moment which is the 15 pin input at the rear and it is expecting your computer to be attached. If you are using it with your computer you need to set the resolution on the computer to match the monitor, if you are not then switch the input to TV or whatever you have connected.
If you want to watch cable then switch the input through all the choices until you see a picture. Make sure the cable box is plugged in and powered on. The source or input button is below the number 9 on the remote, SOURCE: Press to select the signal
source, such as TV, AV, S-Video,
Component 1, Component 2 or VGA.

If you don't have a manual to tell you how to switch inputs you should find one here:

Please check whether you are using a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) cable or VGA (Video Graphics Array) cable to the monitor.The monitor will adjust automatically to the requirements of the connected cable.From the question I think you had connected a DVI cable to the monitor.Make sure that there is no loose contact between the ports and the cable.Also make sure that the proper settings on the monitor are done for the DVI cable configuration.

Watching Videos

*Yes you can: If your TV has either an S-Video input, or a VGA Input.

If it does not, then you wouldn't be able to without an S-Video-to-Component Converter. (very cheap though, if you buy one, you would use the same procedure For S-video below.

But if it does,

  • FOR S-Video Output: You would have to go into your control panel for your integrated graphics card, or graphics settings, and find where it enables you to use S-Video Output.
  • Then you would have to set the source of your TV to "S-Video" of course you also need an S-video cable to connect your TV to the input on the back of your computer, and an audio cable with a standard Stereo (3.5mm) headphone tip on one end, and standard Left/Right audio component tips on the other end. You'd Connect the stereo end of the cord into your headphone jack on the computer, and the other end with Left/right ends (usually white/red, or black/red) in to the input on the TV. (the audio input on the TV should be directly associated with, or by the s-video input jack).
  • FOR VGA Output: You would need to connect a VGA Cable to your computer, and to the VGA Input on the TV. For VGA
  • "To enable VGA out most laptops will have a keystroke such as Function-Key+F8 "Fn + F8" to enable the second display.. Look for a key that says "CRT/LCD" (the link is to an image of the key.)
  • So, [Fn + CRT/LCD]

    Most popular:
    Fn + F8
    Fn + F7
    Fn + F4
I Hope This Helps.
(Sorry for the extra long response....)
Give a shout back if you have any more questions, and I'll be Glad to assist you further.

no vga input message means that the monitor is working fine, and the problem is probably your pc. check the cable connecting the monitor to the pc. if that is ok, you ma have to open up the pc and check some components, most likely the RAM
