Hi. Did you mean upgrade or downgrade? XP is older version than windows 7. Error you are getting means that the system cannot find the path specified. Are you installing the program using the the installer disk?

If you are using the disk in installing the program then there should be no problem with that. Make sure that this program is compatible with windows 7. If you will check the error message " cannot create file C:\Windows\system32\IOSUBSYS\PCOUFFIN.VXD. Windows is trying to install this program but it cannot read a particular file from your CD that is why it cant create a directory to your C drive. have you tried using the CD with other computers?

No you are not wasting you money here at fixya. There is always a solution to the problem. Create a new folder to your desktop and copy the whole disk inside that folder. If you have second disk of this installer then copy it also insdethe folder. Look for a file named setup.exe and run that file. Let us se if installation will push through.

    What is the error message?

that error is particularly for the program tha you are trying to run. This means that the program crashes upon initializing its process. Even if you google this error you cannot pull up any information of this error. another option is to try to download the same program over the internet and see if it is doing the same thing. My initial finding is there could be a glitched somewhere in the installation. You may try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

It is not starting up

Good day. I suggest for you to reinstall windows and use the repair options. Usually software encounter errors or some files might get corrupted causing your computer not to boot up properly. The repair option in Windows XP will help you to fix those issue. here are the steps to follow:

1. Rule out hardware issues. Windows Repair will only fix software problems. Hardware issues can also cause boot problems (i.e. bad hard drive, memory, CPU, or power supply).

2. Backup. It's always a good idea to backup your important data before making changes to Windows XP. Relax, if you follow these instructions your data will be perfectly safe.

3. Boot from your Windows XP CD. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer. When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears on the screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

4. A blue screen will appear and begin loading Windows XP Setup from the CD.

5. When completed loading files, you will be presented with the following "Windows Setup" screen, and your first option. Select "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER". DO NOT select Recovery Console.

6. Then press F8 to continue

7. Next, Windows Setup will find existing Windows XP installations. You will be asked to repair an existing XP installation, or install a fresh copy of Windows XP.

8. Then just choose repair option to repair your Windows Xp

9 Then it should work. If iin any case that will not solve the issue, you might try to install fresh copy on Windows Xp

Hope this information will help you resolve your issue. Have a great day.

We just upgraded to Windows 7 and we cant get our old invoice program to load. Its Proventure Invoices & Estimates version 1.0.0B . Can you help us?

Your accounting software may not be compatible with Windows 7. Check the manufacturer's website to see if it is or not.

You can also try the Windows 7 compatibility fix.

To do this, follow Microsoft's suggestions here.

Upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista with disks supplied by ACER

Try downloading CCleaner, which is free utility that will clean out all your temp files and also scan your registry for issues.

When a program is uninstalled, such as Kaspersky anti-virus, not all registry components are cleared out.

This is particularly the case if the program was a 30 day trial.

The registry retains details of the original installation to prevent consecutive 30 day trials.

CCleaner should clean it out. Run the Registry Issues component until it reports no issues found and then try your install again.

If your computer meets the hardware compatibility requirements,

purchase Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit at this link for under

$90.00. Install it as an upgrade and your existing files will be moved

to a folder named Windows.old. If you choose to upgrade bear in

mind that Vista puts your system resources under a heavier load

so you may want to add more memory to your machine.
