Hi there is a program called driver genius 2007 if you can down load this and install it on your pc it will find any driver faults and download them and install them on your pc to fix any problems you may have ok
or
as you have said in your device manager the driver is unknown right click this unknown device click update driver and let windows search the net for your devices drivers . i would try this first as most of the time it works but in some cases it dont and then try my first solution this will sort your problem out ok
all the best to you and thanks

Your problem may appear from a not properly enabled WLAN card.
Make sure the Wi-Fi swithc is in ON position and on your laptop keyboard try the FN+F8 combination to have displayed the wireless card status. The WLAN card has to be ENABLED to be able to connect to the Internet. The combination done will make appear on your display a window with some options available; choose that option that enables your wireless card.
Also check in your computer's DEVICE MANAGER if your WLAN card is working properly. To do so follow these simple steps:
1. START and click on SYSTEM;
2. in SYSTEM option click on DEVICE MANAGER;
3. on DEVICE MANAGER option go at NETWORK ADAPTERS and see if there your wireless card is indicated and it shows that it is working PROPERLY;
4. if an UNKNOWN DEVICE is indicated then try to find the right driver for you notebook model and WLAN card model;
5. install the driver then REBOOT and recheck in DEVICE MANAGER if your WLAN card is displayed properly this time.

How do i turn the wireless radio on, is there a physical switch on the machine or keyboard?

The D600 has no hardware switch. Does the wireless device show up in your hardware device list? (Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware tab/Device Manager button/Network adapters). Mine shows up there as a Dell Wireless 1450 Dual band mini-PCI card. There are others that it could be. If it appears, double click on it and check it's device status. If no wireless appears there, then look for a possible unknown device under 'other'. If it is under 'other' then you need a driver.
Also, click Start/Control Panel/Network connections. You should see the wireless listed there. It could be disabled. Right click on it for options.
A lot more could be said, but try that for now.

WIRELESS DRIVERS

first check wht is the color of wireless card is it BLUE or AMBER.

--> If Amber thn first check with the button is it on or off .
--->IF ON then check in the device manager (type device manager in start search).
---> IF you dont found the wireless drivers or wireless card in device manager uninstall install the drivers from the recover manager (type recover manager in start search and thn select hardwire driver installations).
--> IF still dont work thn rest the wireless card and the wirless card would be at the rare end of the computer in place of the ram and you can check the ram and wirless card .
--> if after rest the wireless card still didnt work thn u need to get new wireless card or u can check update the bios if u are able to connect with the wireless card and then it would work.

ALL THE BEST.

----> IF ITS BLUE AND STIILL NOT WORKING THEN
--> which in the device manager.
-->Select start search and type run and then whn u get run window type CMD and there would be a black screen and under black screen u need to type the IPCONFIG.
-->if u type if confige thn there would be many resonce like IP ADDRESS,MEDIA DISCONNECT,SUBNET MARKS.

IF MEDIA DISCONNECT WE NEED TO DO THE TOP STEPS OF AMBER.

IF IP ADDRESS THEN CONTACT YOUR ISP.

IF NOT STILL DIDNT WORK U NEED TO DO RECOVER.

check in device manager, is your wireless card detected in device manager ?
if not, it's look like your wireless card is defective.
if yes but there is question mark, you need to re-install wireless driver.
if yes, and it isnot detect any network, is wireless card in your device manager enable ? if disable, right click on wirelees card and choose enable.
if step above not working, try to enable using wireless switch .

If you can't find the drivers at Toshiba's support site, you may be able to find them at driverguide.com. You will have to register, but it's free and this is a very useful site.

Built in wireless internet card not found

a number of possible fixes come to mind. First access hardware list in control panel under system, then click on device manager, then device manager, then look down the list to network adaptors. Opening list should indicate network (wireless card). If not refresh list. If no luck, or unknown card shows up, hit update driver. If no listing at all, try shutting machine down, removing card from under cover from base of machine, restarting machine without it. After waiting for machine to settle, shut down again, re-instate card and restart. The card should be seen and seek driver under windows new device setup screen. If still no good, card or slot (PCI) or both could be crook. PCI slot failure will mean a new mother board, unless you alternate to a PCMCIA card (wireless) or the same in a USB device. All else fails take it to a tech, or more to the point, if under warranty from HP (or extended) as its a relatively new machine, DONT TOUCH and ring HP or take to a service centre.
