Replacement for the thermostat #279052 has different disconnects. The original wires are HS1 (blue with white dashes) and HS3 (red). Anyone can tell me which wire goes to terminal 1?

The thermostat is just a switch. It doesn't matter which of the 2 wires is connected to which terminal. It will work either way.

Kenmore dryer model 110 does not stop during automatic cycle

Make sure the small orange wire is connected to the 250 limit at the base of the heater assy. That is what powers the motor on auto cycle.

Kenmore elite he4 moder 110 won't heat

In terms of likelihood, here is what's wrong:
1) The heating element has failed.
2) One of the several "overheat thermostats" has overheated and failed.
These are found in the back or the bottom of the dryer in the rear.
3) One of the wires to something, like the heating element, has burned in two.
4) The panel where the electric cord attached to the back of the dryer has failed. This will be inside the back of the dryer, usually behind a small plate.
5) The circuit breaker for the "heating" circuit wire of your dryer is popped and needs to be reset. (That is the circuit breaker found in your hall, or basement, or garage, or wherever.)
If you decide to fix it yourself, a question to "fixya" might get you step-by-step instructions.
Be blessed

Hi Ginko. I have a Kenmore dryer model 11086810100 that has some wires removed from inside. The only HOT I can find is the red wire. I have 2 wires that have femals push-on crimped terminals, but I have no...

Hi Robert.

Thanks for the pics. I operate in UK and color codes here are different.
From what I can see the wiring in your picture does not match the US standard either.
The thermal fuse for example should have two blue terminals, not red and blue. The thermal fuse wires goes on one side to start, and on the other to the drive motor through the broken belt switch (if present).
The wiring at the blower must be revised and done again.

Here a service manual covering Kenmore 70 series dryers.

There is a wiring diagram at page 25.

Here a picture showing correct wiring: http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/attachments/sears-kenmore/3298d1196129125-kenmore-dryer-model-110-86870100-wont-heat-ldrwp-checkpoints.jpg

About the red and yellow cable, the only red yellow wire in the diagram operates the switch for the guard function. The wire becomes hot and powers the motor when the guard switch is closed.
