SOURCE: radio code for mercedes benz
You need to take registration, title, and photo ID to your dealership. That proves you are who you are, and that the car belongs to you. They can look up your code based on the VIN number of the car. Be prepared to pay up to an hour's labor to have this done (it varies by dealer).

SOURCE: my car is cr-v 98
OK this is what i would do in this situation: get the model number of your stereo (usually located on the top or bottom of the unit) and the make and either go online to a tech support or call the company directly because what the 5 digit code is is an anti theft system so if anyone steals your stereo they can do anything with it because it locks itself out.So thus if you can contact the company and get the passcode youll be in the green and have a stereo again :)

Usually the Mercedes dealer will give you the code if you are the owner of the vehicle and they might need the VIN# and sometimes the serial# on the radio too.
