I have tried other outlets. While it is presently in a strip outlet other appliances work properly in that strip (clock radio, lamp, etc.). Is there a circuit board or related problem?

  • levi13717 May 26, 2008

How do you change the fuse inside. Is it easy to purchase. From whom? About how much does the fuse cost? I live in the USA (Maryland).

No power at all it is not a circuit board problem, it is the power supply or a blown fuse. If you are in uk check the fuse inside power plug, otherwise you will need to change the fuse inside, or to change the whole power block inside tv.

If it is just the fuse, it costs few cents, the power unit is more expensive. The fuse should be visible inside the tv, in a slot on power board, near to where the power cable connects.
This kind of repair requires opening the TV. Before working on the tv you need to disconnect the power and leave the tv disconnected for a couple of hours, to prevent hazard from electrostatic discharges.
If you are not confident with this kind of service I suggest calling a qualified technician.

To purchase a fuse you can read the amps on the fuse, or take it to any spares shop and buy a fuse of same kind.

Hi levi13717

If there is no power on either of the three appliances , there must be a problem with the wall socket through wich the power is supposed to come.

Take the VCR - being the smallest of all the above mentioned and plug it into another socket in the house. I'm sure you'll find this to be the problem.

If your appliances is hooked up to a multi-plug it could be that as well.

Kindly let me know as soon as you've done this.

Thanks for using Fixya !

    Hi levi13717

Like Ginko said - the first thing to do would be to replace the fuses.

Being in the USA your fuse will be on the powersupply itself on the inside.

A fuse shouldn't cost more than 50cents. I would however advise you to take out each fuse first and take them along to your nearest TV or AV repairer. Just to make a 100% sure you're getting the right fuses.

If the changing of fuses did not work , rather take in the appliances for a quote on repairs and weigh up your options.

A lot of the times it is better to have it replaced than repaired.

You could always claim it from insurance !

How to change sylvania tv to video without remote

I was able to get the Sylvania TV to accept a different input (the remote was lost) by connecting the DVD to a Sony VCR using composite RCA jacks then connecting that to the TV. You'll need two 3-jack (yellow, white, red composite) cables - cheap at any store. Here;s how:
1. Connect RCA output jacks from the DVD to the input female receptacles of the VCR (first cable).2. Connect output jacks from VCR to the female input jacks on TV (second cable). 3. Turn on all equipment (VCR, DVD, TV)4. Switch the VCR to "Line 1" (for my Sony VCR, this shows up as "L1") by pressing the TV/VCR button on the VCR remote (which I did have).
Your system should now work.
The principle is to "fool" the TV into thinking that it's primary input is through the RCA composite A/V jacks rather than the cable connection. No need to disconnect the cable at any time. Any functioning VCR should work well as long as you have the remote for that device. Remember, connect output on the DVD to the input on the VCR, then the output on the VCR to the input jacks on the back of the TV. If you have the connectors on the TV, VCR, and DVD, component cables should work as easily. Remember, output from the DVD goes to the input of the VCR. Theoutput from the VCR (for which you DO have the remote) goes to the input side of the TV.
Good luck!

I need the remote contol code for a sylvania 6313cb 13in. tv/vcr combo

Hello
Universal remote code for Sylvania TV/VCR Combo is:
0227
Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand

I am trying to get a remote code for my slyvania 6719

I also can't find the remote for my Sylvania
TV/VCR/DVD combo...
Model number 6719DF. I don't normally use this tv
(it's an extra spare that I plug into our generator when
the power goes out... since our regular family TV is
quite big and set into the wall making it difficult to
track cords around, I drag this crappy Sylvania down
from our dining room to our family room) I did
happen to find an old Zenith universal remote that
does work with it in some ways (See directions
below). I can turn the TV on and off, set the channels,
language, clock.. etc through the Input select button
on the universal remote but can't set to "Game Mode"
after using connections with video/audio input cords
plugged into the front panel of the TV. So
Playstations, extra dvd players or vcr's, etc won't
work.
Switching from the VCR to DVD and vice versa does
require manually setting the tv itself (remote doesn't
work with that) but at least I can set sub titles, fast
forward through chapters on Dvd's and control the
volume, etc without having to constantly walk over to
the tv.
Programming the remote: I've noticed a lot of people
have tried using codes supplied by different universal
remote providers and couldn't find a code that
worked using their lists with this particular model...
there is a way that it can be done but it's a bit more
time consuming:
Many types of "universal" remotes give the option of
"scanning" the electronic device for a code if one is
not available or the one provided with lists does not
work... Every universal remote though needs certain
buttons pushed during the "scan" and they are all
different! Ha! So if you lost or misplaced the MANUAL
as well (like me!) you might need to do a search on a
manual for your particular universal remote, but I can
at least give you directions on programming a
"Zenith" Universal remote to "scan" for a Sylvania
TV/DVD/VCR combo model 6719DF:
Using the Zenith Universal Remote or any Universal Remote using it's "scan" method:
1: Shut off the TV
2. Press and hold "Code Search" on the remote until
the red LED
light lights up and stays lit.
3. Press the device button for the device (In my case,
for my crappy Sylvania combo, I pressed "TV".)
The LED light will blink once.
4. Scanning: Slowly press and release the "Power"
button on the remote, waiting a few seconds between
while watching the TV to turn on. It's very important
that you pause in between because if you do it too fast
and the TV turns on before you press the power
button again... you'll have to start all over. I've
learned that lesson.
It took 160 presses each time on that button to get the
correct code scanned! I had to do it over 3 times
before I stopped myself beforehand because I was
pressing it too quickly..
5. Right after the TV power turns on, press the "Mute"
button on the remote to set the code. It should work with few limitations (no "game" mode)
after that.

I have been having problems hooking up my truflat RCA TV to my Sylvania dvd/vcr player. the cable plug is hooked up to the tv and the dvd plugs are hook up. What else should I do?

Hello

If you have connected the audio video out of DVD to audio video in to the TVs front panel; what else to do?. Power up both the devices, goto the menu option of your tV, set it to vidieo mode, open the tray of the DVD by it open-close button, put a dvd disc in, push open close button of the DVD again, take the remote control of the DVD; select the chapter you want to see, sit back easy and see the recordings on the disc. That is all. OK.

Can't connect wireless stereo to sylvania 6620LF4

you can hook this particular unit up to your stereo reciever if available. if i am not mistaken the original design purpose of these headphones were to be powered through a stereo reciever, at least it is a sure fire way of keeping your tv's sound in tact and using the headphones when needed. most receivers have a speaker a and speaker b configuration if you attach the lead from the headphone unit to the opposing speaker input then you can have the functions you desire and the performance you have indicated. hopes this fixya.
Best regards
Ryan

Sylvania 6313CB 13" TV/VCR replacemnt remote

We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo.  I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books.  So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked.  This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All"  we bought at the Big Lots store.
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000" Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.
Hope this works for you too.
