If u r using a crt monitor then the problem will likely come from the horizontal line driver(transistor) the big transistor that is closed to the line in the monitor and is usually attached to a sink. what to do
loos yr monitor use yr meter to confirm the transistor is still ok if yes then check for some open circuits around the board and resolder them. open circuits could be broken lines week soldering n etc.
thank u

Hi,

Based on your description it could be a loose connection. Externally, this could either be the power cord or the video cable, internally, this could be on any of the different connectors or less likely, a cold solder. Depending whether your monitor is the conventional CRT or an LCD, then it could be on the regulator board or the inverter.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hey i have a Toshiba Equium M40X-148 and the screen wont turn on. When i power the laptop up the power light lights up but the screen stays blank. Any ideas on what the problem maybe

If you tilt it to the light, do you see a faint image?

Can you connect the laptop to a external monitor and toggle the FN + F5 key to adjust monitor settings to output to the 2nd screen.

How do you tilt screen back

just get hold of the top and bottom of the monitor and push it back or forward.
If it wont tilt with minimum effort, it may not have a tilt function, or it is broken, i have never had any problems with any monitor

My monitor won't stay in any "locked" position. It is either tilted too far forward or tilted too far back and is hard to view in either position. Can I adjust in any way?

You have broken pins in the spring loaded stand, the pins are made of plastic, this very cheaply made stand from HP. You need to get new stand.

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

Difficulty getting monitor to display when computer powers up

The Problem may be due to the defective inverter unit inside the monitor. Dry to resolder if any dry joint on the inverter PCB or replace the inverter board.

Sharp Aquos LC-32D4OU

Comment by Guest, posted on Oct 25, 2008My Aquos has the same problem. I'm not sure how I discovered this, but when I lean the TV forward and hit the power button it will turn on every time. If the screen blacks out and I don't lean it forward when I hit the power button, the screen will just remain blank. It is very weird, but at least repeatable.

- Thank you, Guest. That did it. It definitely seems to be a problem with the TV. Tilting it and hitting the power button helped me get the video back.

Monitor is tilted forward and wont tip back

it will tilt back, just make sure the stand is in the forward most position and not turned and hold the screen at top and push while at the same time pull at the bottom, it will be quite stiff.
