Maybe a corrupt software driver, try updated software from the web site. Also it could be the electrical connections to the printer cartridges. Remove the cartridges & clean the gold or silver contacts with a pencil eraser. Be gentle & don't touch the contacts with you fingers, as it leaves a n oil film & causes contact problems. You will have to clean the inside, where the printer cartridge contacts connect to, as well.. Rgds,

this site sort of gives you the idea..

Refilled black cartridge 36 on my 5650 won't work

The cartridge is electronically dead. This is a common occurrence from improper refilling. To be correctly refilled it must be done under a vacuum to prevent air from entering the print head, which has likely happened. As ink flows through the print head it acts as coolant in an engine, when air is introduced the print head cannot cool, over heats, and ruins the cartridge. These cartridges are difficult enough for us professionals to refill successfully, my recommendation is to leave it to us, or buy original. A refilled integrated print head cartridge will always continue to read as empty because there is no way to reset the cartridge, the manufactures do this on purpose. Lexmark cartridges in general are designed to only last one cycle anyways, multiple refills is attained only with proper technique.

I filled in a Dell 924 cartridge and now the printer does not recognize it and does not print

if the cartridge is chipped, it will still be recognised as empty, since the cartridge uses a backwards counter to estimate the amount of left-over ink. there are tools to reset the chip on an ink cartridge to refill it, which you can normally buy in the shop where you bought the refill-kit (if not already included). please note that the cartridge may not warn you again about being empty. when print quality deteriorates, refill. if print quality stays bad (even after a refill), replace the cartridge with a new (original) one.

I have a Lexmark X4650 I refilled the cartridge and now I cannot get the printer to recognize the cartridge it prints black only and tells me Color is low . any suggestions on how to bypass this prob get...

I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I can't refill the Lexmark 36 and 37 cartridges. Your printer deactivates the electronics on this cartridge when the ink levels get low. Your printer needs a black and a color cartridge with functioning electronics to print. I NEVER recommend Lexmark printers. They are poorly made, don't accept refills easily, and have the most expensive ink across manufacturers and it is designed to clog your cartridge unless you use it quickly. If you keep this machine you are stuck buying Lexmark brand ink (the return program cartridges are a little cheaper though).

I have HP 6540 ...... the black cartridge was emptry ( my son do this :) ) ...when i refill it (and put it in the printer) indicator says that the cartridge is empty. When i pres the buttons on the printer...

each cartridge has its unique serial number,
printer remembers him,
is absent sensor of the ink level determination in you cartridge. You can to print, but message will say to you "EMPTY CARTRIGE".
this warning function can be disconnected by you in printing driver.
If you bathe new cartridge, that level will show full.
If afterwards put(deliver) old , that he will show that empty.
Printer can have a memory about two or three last cartridges.

I bought re-inked cartridge for Lexmark It didn't work

Yes, Lexmark has been making their new printers smarter to reject refilled cartridges. Most likely what is happening is your printer is turning off the electronics on the cartridge when it gets empty so you can't reuse that cartridge. I own a Cartridge World printer cartridge refilling store and I've even had customers return original Lexmark cartridges because their printers have rejected them. If you want to be able to refill your cartridges never buy a Lexmark printer. HP printers that use integrated print head cartridges can be refilled nicely.

How do I reset the ink levels?

We have an issue of missing or replace yellow cartridge. Please feel free to contact the HP support for replacement of the printer, if the printer is in warranty status. HP would replace the printer.

Near empty yellow

Do print until the message EMPTY (Printer stopps printing). DO NOT refill or change cart when message is shown: NEAR EMPTY! You fool the printers logic. Machine counts down the rest of the ink in the cart. When you refill at that moment the counter is disoriented! To clear the counter: Unplug powercord. Take carts out. Wait 3 min. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Do use carts at full level (refill before you put them in). Works normal afterwards.
