I have a Windows media player that doesn't seem to be working properly. It's supposed to add music and videos from my computer's libraries to it's libraries and that's not happening.

When I open the Media player and click and then right click on library- I do not see a "add to library" option. I get a drop-down list- with things like file, view, tools.play and help. I have been able to find my computer's music files before and when I tried to add them I got the message that they were already there and couldn't be added again, but they don't show up in my player's library.

If it's not a newly installed or if you've opened the Windows Media player recently or previously on the same computer, you'll not be asked or it'll not automatically add the media files to the Library, you have to add them yourself manually.

I assume your Windows Media Player is version 10 or version 11. To add the media files manually, follow the steps below:
Open the Windows Media Player.

Click the "Library" Tab.

Right click the "Library" tab and select "Add to Library"

Click "My Personal Folders" then, "Advanced Options" and again click "Add", now browse the folder where you saved all your media files you want to add to the Library. Click "Ok" when you have clicked on the folder you want to add to the library, it'll automatically add all the contents of the folder to the Library. If there are several or many folders, you have to repeat the same process till you add everything.

If this is not the case and you suspect something with your Windows Media Player, let me know with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

No, you were clicking somewhere else. You must right-click the "Library" not above to "Library". If you click above the "Now Palying", "Library", "Rip", "Burn"................ you'll see those menus in the drop-down list....

By the way, could you please let me know the version of your windows media player? Thanks.

I am sorry for that, I thought you already got it when you posted back "yes". Well, let me help you re-install the windows media player.

Which version is it? Windows Media Player 9 or 10 or 11.

I would also like to know the Operating System installed on your computer, If it's windows xp, by default windows media player 9 comes with it and if it's windows vista, it should be windows media player 10 and if it's windows 7, then it should be windows media player 11. But we can upgrade players, even on windows xp computer, we can install windows media player 11.

How do i set a song for my text messages on my mix walkman phone

  • 1Populate your library. To get music from your computer to your Walkman, first make sure the music in your library is properly formatted. The easiest method is to load all of your music into the Windows Media Player library. Open the Windows Media Player and under the "Library" tab choose "Add to Library." A dialog box will open asking what files on your computer you wish to scan for music files. Make your selections and click "OK." Media Player will begin pulling music files into the library.
  • 2Import CDs. If the music you wish to upload to your Walkman resides on CDs you will need to import those into your library as well. Clicking on the "More Options" menu under the "Library" tab then choose "Rip Music." Follow the wizard and import all the music you need from your CD collection.
  • 3Connect the Walkman device to the PC. Your Sony Walkman should have come with a USB cable. Simply attach the cable to your Walkman and to your PC, then allow the computer to automatically install any necessary device drivers. If your PC is unable to automatically install the drivers, you may wish to install the disc provided with your Walkman. After the installation has occurred, you will notice that your device is now visible in your Media Player navigation menu.
  • 4Open your library. Highlight the library function on the navigation menu and double-click on the organization style you wish to employ. This can be by song, artist, album or genre. Then begin perusing your library for music you wish to add to your MP3 player.
  • 5Drag-and-drop music selections. When you find a song you wish to upload, click on the song, hold down the button and drag the title to the Sync List on the right side of your screen. Continue this process until you have chosen all the music you want to add.
  • 6Sync your device. Click on the "Start Sync" button in the lower right side of the screen to start the transfer process.

    sincerely. G-d bless you

How can you listen to music

First, you will have to transfer the music to the mp3 player. You can transfer music and pictures to your player using Windows Media Player. YOu can download it from here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player

Once you have installed WMP, reboot and plug your mp3 player. By default, Windows Media Player automatically loads all the music and picture files stored in your My Music and My Pictures folders into the library. If you add new files to these folders, they will also be automatically added to the library. Then you will have to synchronize your mp3s player with WMP.
You can sync your music and pictures to your player using Windows Media Player. Simply connect your player to your computer using the supplied USB cable, set up sync, and you will be ready to sync your media library to the player. When you connect your player to the computer for the first time, Windows Media Player automatically selects the sync method (automatic or manual) that works best for your player. Automatic: If your player has sufficient storage space (at least 4GB of free space) and your entire media library can fit on your player, your entire media library will be automatically copied to your player as soon as you connect it to your computer. Manual: If your entire media library cannot fit on the player, then you will be prompted to manually select specific files or playlists that you want to transfer to your player.
Once you have transfer the music you want-unplug the player from the computer and that's it. If you have more doubts, you can download the manual from here:
