I dropped my HP dv6449us and cracked the screen. What do I do?

There are several options available. If you want to replace the LCD screen there is a great tutorial here.

Pretty much any 15.4'' WXGA resolution (1200*800) LCD panel with a 30-pin connection will work as a replacement. Thankfully these are very common and can be purchased on Ebay for less than $100.

If you just want to be able to use the laptop without spending any money to repair it, just hook up an computer monitor to the VGA output on the laptop. Disconnect the broken LCD (see link above) if you have any problems making the monitor display your desktop.

Your laptop is getting HOT because the cooling fan may not be cooling the processor. All it takes is about 15 seconds to overheat the processor. Need to get it serviced.

My (RAM) drop down why? from (2) to (958)


You may have a faulty memory module, OR Your Graphics chip is using that amount of RAM

3 keys (G, H, and backspace)on HP pavilion DV6449US notebook don't work.


Try resetting the keyboard by taking the bezel and keyboard out and unplugging it from the mainboard. If that don't work then you probably need a new keyboard. Try using a usb keyboard.
