Question about Amana ALE643RB Electric Dryer

Amana dryer My Amana dryer will not start but the electric is on. Push the on button and nothing happens

    I have a similar problem.
When I turn on the dryer, I can hear the electricity humming and the timer running, but I hear NO motor noise and the tumbler doesn't turn.

I checked the fuse box, they LOOK good. But the fuses are odd looking to begin with, they don't just have the metal strip, there are springs involved, so they might not look like a typical blown fuse.

Still, if the timer is working, doesn't that mean the fuses are okay?

I have a different (older) model the lg4809w, it has a digital screen on it. The screen works, it senses when the door is opened or closed, but when we start it, nothing happens. IT is a gas dryer but I don't know if it is the heating element, the motor or the control board... Any help would be appreciated!

Check your fuses or breaker. An electric dryer requires 240 volts to operate. In a fuse box system, 2-30 amp fuses are required for an electric dryer to operate. If 1 fuse is blown it will not start or heat depending on which fuse is blown.
In a breaker system the breaker can trip and sometimes look ok. Find your 30 amp dryer breaker and reset it by flipping the lever to off, then back on.
If this doesn't help, you may have a faulty door switch or maybe your door has loosened from the hinges and has sagged a bit, breaking contact with the door switch plunger.
If you can locate the door switch, push on the plunger... you should hear an audible click...if you do then the door switch is normally ok, but not always, it is just a simple test to rule a bad switch which is normally silent if it is faulty.
You may want to inspect for a burned wire or wire termination.
Make sure dryer is unplugged from the power source before inspecting!!!
Other than the previous instructions, it is difficult for a novice to diagnose the problem...call a technician in to fix your dryer.
1 more thing, Just because a breaker appears to be on, and/or you flipped it off then on, doesn't mean the breaker is ok. Fuses also can look good and be bad. A small volt-ohm meter($10.00) is a good investment for testing voltage, and to save time and money.

Hope this gets you up and running.

My Amana Dryer ned7200tw has been working great till the last couple months. Lights come on, I can choose setting with the knob but nothing happens when I push the button to start.

Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

I have and Amana electric dryer when I push the start button it buzzes and does not start

Wild guess the dryer is overloaded, Or too hot and needs to cool down. There are temp sensors that will prevent starting when too hot. You may have drive belt or fan problems exhaust pipe clog.

The fuse is mounted on the heater element. When it blows nothing in the heater or motor circuit works but the power to the timer is not interrupted therefore you can hear. Service manual

Push start and nothing happens, there is power to dryer

Start button is possibly shorted out. The power goes from the wall to the start button before it goes anywhere else

Won't turn on

First check voltage and breaker,(this is a big one)
next, if you have power to the appliance (120 gas dryer or 240 electric) then the door switch is probaly broken.

lastly, perhaps a thermal fuse located on blower vent. goodluck
