Throttle cable assembly

The cable you are trying to replace is the OPC cable (engine brake cable), not a throttle cable like you are trying to fit. You need to take it back and get an OPC cable, which will have the correct end on it to fit into the bracket on the side of the engine.

Clutch cable installation

  • Put your mower in the lowest position and open the hood.
  • 2 Lift up the retainer spring that holds the clutch cable to the adjustment bracket. Pull the cable out of the bracket.
  • 3 Remove the clutch cable spring from the idler bracket. Pry the spring open with a pair of pliers if necessary.
  • 4 Hook a new clutch cable spring over the idler bracket and squeeze it closed.
  • 5 Slip the clutch cable under the retainer spring.

MY DAUGHTER HAS A SOVEREIGN SV40, CLASSIC XC35 PETROL LAWN MOWER, AND THE CLUTCH CABLE HAS BROKEN. I WOULD LIKE TOP KNOW WHERE I CAN PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT. I'VE TRIED THE WEB WITHOUT SUCCESS. CAN YOU...

As far as i remember the SV40 was a non self propelled mower, it will only have an opc cable ( engine brake cable ) this is part no. 531206026, in the UK the parts are distributed through Flymo.

Hello I have a Mountfield MPR10071 46" power mower with a Honda GCV 135 4.5 engine just bought it second hand and its fine other than if you let go of the cutting lever it stalls! is it supost to do this ?...

I suspect you mean the OPC (operator presence control) lever? This is a safety feature - if you let go, the blades stop. Since your mower does not have a blade clutch, this means the engine stops.

All walk-behinds HAVE to have this feature if manufactured after (I think) 2002 in the UK - similar rules apply elsewhere.

There's no easy way to disable it - if you tie up the handle so you can empty the grass catcher with the engine running, you will find that you have no way of stopping the engine.

Just bought a mountfield sp454 mower filled it with petrol the petrol then started to pour out of fuel bowl there was a plug missing fitted a small bolt in the hole then started the mower it felt as though...

Get he model, type and code off of the engine shroud and take them to your local small engine parts dealer and get the proper bolt for the fuel bowl. They use a special bolt that is hollow and with a weep hole for the gas to flow through the inside of the bolt and up into the carb. Get the right bolt and it will most likely run for you.

good luck

it seems this mower is made by Homelite with the Mountfield name on it.
