Question about Aiptek HyperPen 12000U (HYPERPEN12000U) Graphic Tablet

Doesn't respond to the pen well

I have to either angle my hand so that the pen nib meets the tablet at a right angle or press harder but I don;t want to damage it. I thought orientating it might solve the problem but I can't even find the option to do it. Sometimes when I'm trying to draw it goes a bit crazy and draws a straight line to somewhere else on the screen. I've not bashed it or anything so I don't know what's happened?

I have never had a table before, I was stoked when mine arrived an hour ago.
but everytime I touch the nib to the tablet, the nib disappears up into the pen, leaving a millimetre showing, so I have to hold it straight upright.
and yes it skips and dances and plays all sorts of sillibuggaz

Having the mouse on the pad at the same time may be an issue but it could be the Operating system. When I first got mine the same thing happened to me because i was using the driver that came in the CD on windows Vista. The problem was solved when I installed and updated driver for Windows XP and Vista from the official site http://www.aiptek.com/drivers just look for the model and download the driver.

I had the same problem, and my fix was really simple. Did you make sure that your mouse and pen aren't on the tablet at the same time? I took my mouse off the tablet, the pen immediately stopped jumping around.

I still have the problem, even though I don't have the mouse on my tablet as well as I have installed the latest driver.
So, my operating system is Windows Vista 32bit.
The pen still jumps around.
What's the problem here?

Why won't my wacom grip pen click when it touches the tablet instead of hovering and selecting text?

Have you tried pulling the nib out (the end bit you draw with)? It could be that something is sticking the nib further inside the pen than it should, which is telling the pen you are applying pressure. As far as I know there is a little spring inside the pen that the nib pushes on when you touch the pen to the tablet. Perhaps the spring is permanently squished in.

My pen writes even if it's hovering over the board. =[

I had this same problem. I found my solution on here, but i don't know if it will work for you. Take the pen and hit the head of the pen into your hand 5 times (pretty hard i hurt my hand while doing it but not too hard) and then do the same with the eraser. It worked fine for me afterwords. Something about humid weather and the sticking of the pressure thing in the pen. I hope this helps

How to change pen nib for graphire4 cte-440

just pull the pen nibs right out with a pair of tweezers or pliers… Its just a piece of plastic - look at it. You might even find a substitute in your own home

When hovering the pen, it acts as if I am pressing

Sounds like you're either holding the stylis to close to the nib and bumping the nib, or, there is dirt in behind the nib causing it to not be fully released when you lift it.
The nib does not need to make contact with the artboard, just be depressed when in range of it.
The nibs can be pulled out and replaced - cheap as to buy new nibs. I've never pulled one out and refitted the same used nib, with a 'good' pair of tweezers you can try, but you risk squeezing the nib out of shape - worth a go?

Classic Pen Woes

Hi , Mnemosyne , i'm the Guest who had the exact same of your problem , i contacted WACOM and there solution was as follow : " This problem is, although uncommon, usually easily fixable. The first and fastest solution is to simply press the eraser a few times to release it from binding on the side of the pen. If that does not work, pull the white plastic nib, and take a fingernail file (LIGHTLY) to the back end of the nib, making sure to remove any burs or flaring from the nib. I have seen this problem myself, albeit uncommon " , they also suggested if all fails then change the nib ( and thats exactly what i did , i changed the plastic nib with the felt nib - i like it better anyways thats why i didn't bother filing the plastic nib - and WALA my problem was solved and the pen is working like a charm , hope this helps .

you take out the nib by using a pair of tweezers or a nail clipper but, (now this is what happened to me) is your tablet plugged straight into your computer OR into a usb ADAPTER as if you do that, sometimes it completely mucks things up. make sure it goes straight into your computer as when i did this my tablet was fine

Defective pen. Replace the nib. If that doesn't work, replace the pen.
