My truck will start but lacks power

If it is turning over it is probably fuel or plugs. chk yr fuel line to see if its pumping. chk the fuel filter for water in line, if so pump some thru line to ground and change filter. chk and clean plugs particuarly around the inside walls, wash with petrol, dry, clean sprak area, and return to engine. if engine runs but no power it c/be coil.

FUEL FILTER CHANGE

Hello there, here are a few key notes to assist you:
  • Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Depressurize the fuel line by pulling the fuel pump relay. The relay is located in the fuse panel under the hood behind the battery.
  • Start the truck and allow it to stall. The fuel system is depressurized. Insert the relay back into the fuse panel.
  • Locate the fuel filter by tracing the fuel lines coming out of the fuel tank. The filter will be located a foot from the tank under the truck on the driver side.
  • Unscrew the inlet and outlet lines by loosening the fuel line with a line wrench. Hold the filter in place by holding the nut on the filter with a second line wrench.
  • Pull the filter out of the mounting bracket by sliding it out and away from the bracket.
  • Slide the new filter into the mounting bracket. Ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the front of the truck, as it designates the direction of fuel flow.
  • Screw the inlet and outlet lines onto the filter by hand. Tighten with a line wrench. Use a second line wrench to hold the filter still while tightening.
  • Start the truck by turning the ignition to the "Start" position. Hold the key in this position for two seconds to allow the fuel pump to push fuel through the lines. Repeat this until the truck starts.
  • Allow the truck to idle while inspecting the filter for any leaks. Inspect around the filter and the fuel lines.
Good luck...

I would double check for any air leaks. Replace fuel filter. You will also need to reset computer after new parts are installed. This can be done with a hand-held scanner or diagnostic scanner

Fuel filter on a 6.2 diesel

You need to install an electric fuel pump to lift the fuel from the tank to the mechanical pump. You can turn off the electric pump after starting or use it when bleeding the lines after changing the fuel filter. You can start the truck after a few minutes instead of a few days. I know from experience and fought that problem for years.
