The help that Benimur gave me was excellent and he was very kind and understanding with me. I'm sure he hasn't had a client like me.I can only type a sentence (short time)about 5 minutes and I'm about one step from alhiemer which means that took about another 5 to 10 minutes . So was I happy to get a man that took his time with me (seldom ever happen in my lifetime).I give him 100%. Thank you Mr Benimur. P.S. Cooking worked.I did write this before but I don't mind doing it again.

Sears Kenmore gas stove, the front left and the left and right rear burners turn on when the knob is turned to the lite position. The right front burner doesn't turn on when put lite position. N

If there is no clicking sound like you hear when you turn on the other burners than I'm going to say that either the electrode is bad or the spark switch, which is what you turn to turn on the burner to begin with. Both parts are cheap so it may be a good maintenance thing to change all of the burners. Make sure you have your model and go to www.repairclinic.com and order both parts, and if you don't need one send it back for a full refund even if you installed it. good luck

5 burner gas Vicking stove top keeps clicking after is on

Hello,

Their are 2 possible reasons the igniters would continue to click after the burner is lit.

1) the burner is slightly dirty and the part of it very near the electrode is not burning correctly so the igniter doesn't think the burner is lit so it will not tell the spark to turn off. It could be cleaned by using steel wool and cleaning the burner holes near where the electrode is and then use a paper clip and poke through the holes on the burner to clear them so they burn correctly.

2) the electrode (the spark plug at the burner) is cracked so even though the burner is lit so the electrode can not sense that the burner is lit and wont tell the spark to turn off,so if having cleaned burner it still clicks after burner is lit the electrodes would need to be replaced.

I smell gas and my burners wont light - is there a pilot light in these ranges?

The best way to find out if if your stove has a pilot light, is to lift the top panel of the range . The pilot will usually be located between the burners. Typically you will have two pilots. One for the left and one for the right. The pilot light will ignite with a match without having to turn the burner knobs to the "on" position. Good luck

Amana stove top burners click, and gas comes out, but won't ignite. It's a self cleaning ARG7200, about 11 or 12 years old. Oh, and can I lift this top? I'm used to doing that with old pilot-light...

A weak erratic spark from one or more electrode usually indicates a bad spark module. No spark from one of the electrodes while the others work properly usually indicates a bad electrode. Inspect the porcelain of the electrode for cracks, chips or burn marks. If there are any, the electrode should be replaced. If one of the burner knobs is turned to the light position and nothing happens, but all the others function correctly, the spark ignition switch for that one burner is likely bad. The switch can be taken out of the system and checked with an ohmmeter. It should close for continuity at the light position only.

All of the sudden my front right burner will not light. I clicks like it wants to light and you can smell the gas but it will not light. All the other burners are working fine.

Take a look at the burner when it is clicking and make sure the igniter electrode is creating a spark. If the burner head is removable pull off the burner cap and head. Inspect the burner head for debris and clean. Make sure any small holes on the burner head are not plugged. There is usually a small hole where the electrode is that a gas must exit for proper ignition. If the burner has a center igniter for two burners then inspect the flash tube for that burner and make sure it is centered and there is no obstructions in the flash tube. On that burner there are little holes located in front of the flash tube call step-up ports. Check to make sure those little holes are not plugged.

Burner not working

Sometimes there is "leak" on the cable - the insulation breaks down some place else some the clicking sound is heard but no lighting. Look to see if the arching is at the electrode beside the burner - if it is then try cleaning the electrode and the areas around the burner so as to give better conduction to thr frame o the stove

Ge spectra gas stove top not lighting

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:
  1. Turn you burner to the Lite position:

If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.

If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

  2. Clean the burner and electrode:

First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.

Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.

  3. Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

  4. The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

Stove burner igniter does not work.

Your problem is not the igniter itself, but the burner switch that controls the igniter. All the igniters get their power from one spark module that is mounted somewhere in back of the oven. That's why you are able to get all the igniters to spark with only one burner control turned on. This is normal. That is also why you are able to light the burner in question buy turning on another burner. The spark is being provided by a switch that is working. To answer your question: the igniter is removable, but I don't think it's necessary. Cleaning them generally doesn't make them work better. I would check the wiring from the spark module to the burner switch and/or replace the switch. I hope this helps.
