That is not a dvd writer in my windows xp home edition

so what CD??? CD-R recordable, CD-RW?
No PC stated. NO OS stated ,wow.
just DC3000 and some kind of VHS tape?
My guess bad media. (CD-r)
or the drive it self is bad.
or as all XP are , virus infected,

Typically, you use DVD/CD writing software to write files to the disc.
There is no 'formatting' involved.
If, however, you want to use a DVD/RW disc as a "big floppy" then you need special software for that. What software came with your DVD writer? or You can use free "Nero InCD", -> Download

Solution:
This problem occurs when your Writer lens goes bad. There is nothing wrong with your system. Just go n get replaced your DVD Writer lens.

Symptom:
It causes so cause your lens has several power regulation. It increases the power as well as decreases the power depends on your layers of your Disc. You might be knowing that your DVD has much more density in space as well as in layers to write than CD. If there are much more depth in the layers a bad lens cannot read the contents.

You can buy a copy of Windows XP (and I recommend Professional over
home edition) with SP3 here

Go into my computer. Move the mouse to the cd drive icon. Press properties. Go to the recording tab and check the enable CD recording on this drive and adjust the speeds if necessary.

you have to convert it.....best by a computer useing a video card to digital converter. then if I was you I would clean it up and edit using a nice software program like Liquid edition...but that is expensize just use the moviemaker that came with XP...after you finish you need another software program like Nero with a special progarom that converts to dvd from anything digital.Also you must have a dvd writer. Dvd are 4.7gigabyetes where as cd writers are 700 meg. good luck
