Most likely cause is not the speakers, much more likely there is no driver/or corrupt driver for the computers soundcard.look at add remove hardware in control panel, and try to re-install software from your windows disc,or the audio driver disc you got with the pc.no driver present shows as a yellow question mark next to the item which is non-functional.you should, upon not having the software,be able to download the driver from the manufacturers website, free of charge.hope this helps somewhat, steve.

If there is an ON/OFF switch at the back of your 2.1 speakers, then switch it on. Or is the VOLUME control set at 0? Turn it up a bit.

Or, are the left & right speakers properly hooked to the subwoofer unit?
Please check.

Try going to control panel, audio, settings.Make sure your speakers are set to 5.1 surround sound.

Next if there is software for these speakers or your audio device be sure it is also set for surround sound.

Hissing from computer speakers and they are new

Hello
A hissing sound indicates the speaker amplifier has no input from the computer sound card, check to make sure the speakers are hooked up to the correct port for audio out to the speaker input, the Audio output to the speaker is the GREEN mini RCA jack on the back of the computer.

Hello Asconn

Bad board, inside of your speaker system, time to RMS or use the warranty, if you register your product, this could be easy.
Some boards , depending on energy at home voltage, etc, can be damage, and sometimes fried the board, for a energy fluctuation. Consider to use warranty, or RMS, in this case.

Hello there!! jlee432
The 4.1 speakers you has, and output sound , depend on the sound card you has on your laptop. If you has inside the laptop a sound card 5.1 you whould not have problems get it sound, BUT you have to set on multimedia and sound for 4.1 according.
you only have one output sound on your laptop, so you have to use 2 speakers or buy a splitter and get 2 speakers sound.
you also, can buy a pcmcia sound card, 5.1 from creative labs, to solve this. but check if your speakers of course sound of.
good luck
