    Hi!

I`ve got a problem with my alpine cda-9855r,because the display doesn`t work and all the rest does work properly

  • Anonymous Nov 03, 2008

The only fix is if you buy the biolite display from alpine...i rang them up and it cost about £110...including vat. To replace, it should be fairly straight forward, but you will need a soldering iron as the alpine display are soldered to the board, not the electric connectors but the mounts that hold it in place...the electric connection is done by a ribbon and this is just pull and push back in.
The display is a fault on all biolite screens, ina-n333r, rr, rrs, 9855 etc etc. Considering how much the ina units are worth (about £1200 when they first came out), its still very cheap to replace the display yourself with a new one or get alpine to do it for £90...i have received feedback that the alpine techs do an amazing job!....on the 9855 and other mp3/cd units, it would be cheaper to write off the unit and learn from your mistake of buying one in the first place. As I said, the INA units are probably the best of both worlds in navigation, mp3/cd systems and it also have a brillant tuner with built in TMC,,,,so its worth every penny. Guys, dont try and look for other ways of fixing it as you might create more damage to your units. When you get if fixed, it should give you service for another 3 years depending on use, and if alpine has sorted the fault out with their replacement screens.....it might be an idea to pass a constant 12V to the illumination circuit so that its always in dim/night mode ...hence preserving/burning at half rate.
    Hope this helps..
    Regards
    Vikram.....ina-n333r owner

Its a design fault guys...i know this blog is old, but if its a biolite screen, then it expires after a while, ...yes expires! the display needs replacing and yes you guessed right, its not cheap!

I have pluged a kca420i & ipod into my alpine-9855r but i'm only getting music in the left speekers

Let's do some inexpensive troubleshooting. At the amp switch the rca jacks and see if you still get sound. If you get sound out of the left speaker then the right side output needs to be repaired. But if you get sound out out of the right speaker only then you have a problem with the preout of the stereo and the stereo will need to be repaired. Hope this helps.

Screen says searching when iPod connected to Alpine CDA-9847

Check your ipod to see if it is shuffle mode. Alpine doesn't document this but they have a bug that causes the problem that you describe. If the ipod is in shuffle mode the Alpine gets confused.

i have that same problem. when i turn the volume up, it shuts off but comes back on right away. the only thing i can think of is i'm not running the constant power directly from the positive terminal on the battery (which is what is recommended). not sure if thats the solution but im gonna try and wire it right anyway...

It's possible the stereo is in some sort of "demo" mode. To verify this setting, go to Menu-->Demo and set it to "Off".

Peripheral's Connex2Car adapter to an Alpine CDA-9851

the alpine should recognize it as a "changer" when you select the source; ie: radio, CD, changer. Sounds simple, but have you turned up the volume on the iPod?
The Alpine adapter is $100, but works great, you can totally control all your iPods functions, and it displays all song info on the Alpine decks display.

Disconnect whatever is attached to the BLUE wire at the back of the Alpine deck. Re-connect it to the BLUE/WHITE wire instead. This should solve your problem.

Yes, I'm sure Alpine will sell you another face but there is still the option of repairing the broken face at a good repair shop. Of course getting a new face is the easiest (read most expensive) way to get you going again.

Display stopped working

My Alpine CDA-7842 works fine from a functional point of view but the display (readout) had stopped working. All the lights on the display work but the actual readout is blank. At first the readout would intermittently work now it's completely dead. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
