    Problem isn't in the cable, it is in the LCD monitor portion of the plug-in fixture. I'm thinking the internal part that includes the monitor power plug may need to be replaced but I've never tried such a task. I don't know how difficult that would be. Thanks anyway.

Try wiggling the plug around a bit to see if you can get contact. You could also try borrowing a power supply if you know someone with the same machine to isolate the problem.

Could be a bad battery, a/c adapter or DC jack on the laptop.
Remove the battery and plug in the A/C and try to power on. If it comes on try to gently wiggle the plug where it meets the laptop. If it stays on then it's most likely a bad battery. If it shuts off when you wiggle it then the dc jack is bad. If none of these. Try gently wiggling the plug and tapping the power. If you get nothing at all it's probably the a/c adapter. If it comes on briefly then it's the dc jack

Advent N270 netbook will not charge. Orange light comes on initially then goes off. Also when I wiggle the plug into the laptop the light flashes on and intermittently.

It sounds like either a bad connection on the motherboard or a broken wire in the adapter making intermittent connection.

1. With the power adapter disconnected, do you have a power light? This would indicate the adapter is good and the plug is questionable.

2. Check your power adapter output with a multi-meter.(be sure to wiggle the wires around) If the power fluctuates, replace the plug.

3. If the power is solid, replace the motherboard connector.

Compaq Presario A900 won't turn on, and battery won't charge (no blue light on when battery charger cord is plugged in.) Any ideas please? Thanks.

The power connector for these Compaqs are notorious for failing when they get a bit grimy. Try wiggling the connector or cleaning it or even gently squeezing with pliers.

Crank no start,spark frome coil and plugs also good fuel pressure

Check to make sure your battery cables are completely clean and tightened with no wiggle room on your battery terminals

I know this sounds like a silly thing to suggest, but is a very common problem. Even a little bit of debris, calcium, rust or dirt can cause a small disconnection and cause the jeep not to start. Even the smallest bit of wiggle room on the battery cables can cause this as well.

No power broadband router

Initially, pls try:
  • check the output voltage of the AC adapter with the use of a DVM. Move, slightly bend, wiggle the cord specially close to the plug;
  • check the jack if it is fixed in place. If it wiggles/moves even a bit could indicate a loose/cold solder;
  • internal partial short. Possible a reverse protection diode or the voltage regulator.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

The DC power jack on the laptop may be worn out and needs to be replaced. Does it begin charging if you wiggle the power jack a bit?

Won't turn on - lights appear for a second then nothing

Probably a poor power connection either where the AC pack goes in to the wall (probably powerbar!) or where the plug from the power pack goes into the unit. Wiggle the various connectors to see which one solves the problem. As a last resort you may have a faulty power pack (try ask a dealer or friend to test your system on their power pack).
