I get a pop up that says update required but when I hit the install button nothing happens. Please lemme know how I can fix this.

you might have do a manual update

The Windows XP Home operating system has the ability to connect to the Internet and download updates from the Microsoft servers. These updates provide critical and optional security, stability and feature upgrades for the operating system to help keep it operating smoothly. Running this update program is easy to do for users of all skill levels and it's a crucial part of keeping your computer working correctly.

Boot up your computer and log in to the operating system. Click on the "Start" button, click on "All Programs" and then click on "Windows Update." Click the "Express" button and wait for the Windows Update utility to scan your computer for a list of currently installed updates. Once this process is finished, you are shown a list of available updates you can install. Click the "Install Updates" button to start downloading the updates. If any license agreements appear, read them and then click the "I accept" button to continue with the update process. Once the updates finish installing, you need to restart your computer. Hope this helps.

Hold F8 while booting to go into safe mode, or last known good configuration. Then, preform the update from there, and that should fix your problem.

Your WINDOWS XP SP-2 needs a WINDOWS UPDATE. make sure you are connected to the internet. then click "START", click CONTROL PANEL, then SYSTEM, and find the AUTOMATIC UPDATES TAB. turn on AUTOMATIC UPDATES. if the updates are already automatic, click the link provided in the tab that brings you to the windows update/microsoft update website. Click express settings. If an option POPS UP, saying "DOWNLOAD MICROSOFT UPDATES" click this option and allow your computer to download this UPDATE. if not, continue by clicking the EXPRESS SETTINGS, the windows website will check to see if your computer is UPDATED. You WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM should have SERVICE PACK 3, continue this process until ALL UPDATES are installed. You may be required to restart your computer to finish updates.DOING THIS will update drivers as well, which most likely needs to be done in order for the CD to work properly.

I have this window that keeps popping up ''sonic Update Manager''. They want me to put in a cd that has the file um.msi in it. This was a download so I do not have a disk. I continually ''end Task'' in the...

Follow this procedure and your problem will be resolved. Do exactly i say..!

Step 1:- First Downlaod the windows Clean up utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Click on the link above --> and then Under Summary Option on this page.

Click on the link mention below:-
( Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now. )

Install the windows clean up utility on the computer.

Once it is installed Hit the finish button.

Now Click on start-->go to All programs-->navigate
Microsoft windows Clean up utility software.--> click on it and runn it.

Once the Clean up utility window opens up.

Find out sonic Update Manager in the list you see.

Click on it and highlight it .

Now click on the button remove at the botton of that screen.

Once it is gone. Restart the computer your system will not pop up that message again.

( Reason :- The reason why you are getting that message is that the sonic Update Manager software is not installed properly on your system which is why it keeps poping up the MSI ( microsoft Installer ) on your screen for sonic Update Manager. )

So to get rid of it just remove the MSI from the list in windows clean up utility and it will not pop up again.

Let me know if it works for you.

Please do follow the instructions as provided. It will work.

If you are positive you have any anti virus installed, you can disable the notification.

Click Start, then go to Control Panel. In Control Panel, open Security Center.

On the left hand side of the window, click " Change the way security center alerts me"

Uncheck Virus Protection and click OK.

Cannot install omnipage se. wizard interupts process

When unistalled the previous Omnipage SE 4.0 and try to install new update vresion, an error message keep poping up saying a previous version of Omnipage is still installed in the computer and can not install the new version. No more trace is found for old version in Add/Remove screen. The problems are in the registry area. Just run regedit (export the registry as backup) and look for Scansoft under the software directory. Deleted all the Scansoft omnipage traces then restart the computer will solve the problem.
