Sounds like the internet connection is not setup to Ur modem. When u unplug it redetects the modem and connects. try uninstalling the modem from the control panel - system - device manager. keep the modem connected and reboot. U may have to use control panel - add/remove programs any programs the modem cd installed. on reboot use the modem cd only to get the driver and let windows control the modem.

I canot connect to the internet but my laptop detect my router

Make sure your modem is plugged in, first and foremost.

Make sure your modem is connected to your Router with the Ethernet cable.

If you're unable to connect still, do a reset on both the modem and the router at the same time. Unplug both, wait for 30 seconds and plug them back in again.

If you are still unable to get an internet connection, right click your wireless connection in the toolbar on the bottom left (Assuming you're using a PC). Click "diagnose" and it will run through your connection, to identify the problem.

Follow the instructions on screen.

If you are still unable to get a connection after trying these, contact your ISP and have them reset the modem and walk you through wireless setup for their particular system.

Thanks!

Hope this helped!

I just signed up for netflix and am trying to hook it up to my wii to watch movies. The wii is properly connected and hooked up, and we have a wireless internet connection in my home, however when i go to...

Error code 51030 means you Wii is unable to connect to your wireless network.
Try unplugging your modem and wireless router, then plugging them back in after a couple minutes.
While you're waiting for your modem and router, delete your network setting from your Wii, and set them back up once your router and modem are back up.
Your wireless router's setting might have changed and your Wii might not be able to properly connect.

I have internet through cable.it runs through the sb5101u surfboard motorola modem. i bought the lan adaptor to go to the wii, for netflix, but it won't connect to the internet. error code 52020

Here is the solution from nintendo:

  1. Power off the Wii. Connect the official Nintendo Wii LAN adapter to the Wii, and insert a working ethernet cable into the official Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter.
  2. Unplug all devices from your modem. Most modems are unable to support more than one device at a time.
  3. Power cycle your modem. To do this, unplug the power from your modem and let it rest for 20 seconds. Plug the power back in. Connect the Ethernet cable from your Wii console to the Ethernet port on your modem.
  4. If the connection test fails, try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP address, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, and DNS information. To access these settings:
    1. On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
    2. Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
    3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings, including the settings listed above. Input theseexactly as they're listed into the "Manual Setup" of the Wii console's internet connection.
  5. If you are still unable to connect and you are using broadband Internet, then your ISP likely uses PPPoE to establish a connection to their network. The Wii is not compatible with PPPoE. Contact your ISP for more assistance.

I plugged in a Ethernet cable directly into my PS3, and when I try and test the connection it says, "unable to obtain ip address" I have a wired connection for my desktop and it works fine, so i...

You cannot simply just do a connection test. You have to set it up:

Do the following:

Turn off PS3 system..
1: Reset your modem by unplugging it from the main power source.
2: After a few minutes, plug modem power back into modem. Allow all connections to configure
3: Turn on PS3 system.
4: Go to "Settings" then scroll all the way down to "Network Settings"
5: Make sure that the "internet connection" (the second menu) is "Enabled"
6: Go to "Internet Connection Settings" and choose the appropriate settings. (What's highlighted is going to be the best option, continue to hit the right button on the analog to go through the stages.)

If "USE PROXY SERVER" is highlighted, then just proceed by clicking the right arrow on the D pad.

D-Link DIR 655 - DHCP server but no internet

This usually happens when the router has timed out trying to grab an IP address from your modem.

I suggest unplugging your router and modem, waiting 1 minute, plugging in your modem, wait 1 minute, plug in your router, wait 1 minute, then try to connect again.

If this solution has helped you, please take the time to rate me.

Can't connect to internet after resetting router.

Try to connect your PC straight to the cable modem and see if the problem persists. If so, the modem is the problem.

You might have to reset your modem.
Unplug your router (power and ethernet to modem), unplug the power of the modem and wait 20 seconds. Plug the power back into the modem and wait until all lights are on. (This sometimes takes a minute or so.) Then plug in a cable into the modem FIRST and THEN into the router.

Now connect the PC to the router and see if you can get internet access.
If not, check your PC settings. It should obtain the IP address and DNS automatically.

If this doesn't help, please supply more information on what modem you are using.

Followed the cd set up instructions to the letter every thing worked except it will not connect to the internet internet connection is ok when plugged straight into the computer

Try to reset the router first. There's a reset button at the back of it. Press it for 20 seconds, then unplug the power to the router, unplug power to the modem as well. Make sure the modem is connected to the Internet/WAN port of the router, and your PC is connected to port 1 on the router as well. Now power on the modem first, wait for all the lights to go solid, when they are solid, plug the power back to the modem now and check if you can go online now.
