I've managed to get a label stuck inside my freecom dvd re writer. there is one screw in the casing but I can't seem to get the outer bits off.

can anyone offer me a step-by-step to recover said label from the drive without damaging it (the drive that is)

It is a freecom dvd rw recorder ls pro double layer with lightscribe.

ummm... i was an idiot and stuck a sticky label on to the disk before i burned it... it came off as the disk was spinning. not sure where its stuck as i can't see it. there is a single screw in the casing, no more hiding under any labels on the drive.

    here is a pic

What Kind of Label? How did it get stuck inside this Drive?
Has the Label caught on the Bottom or the top of the Drive?
Did you try to write to the Label with the Drive?
If it is a small centre of the disc label and is stuck on the upper steady Hub then the drive to needs to be opened, not just the Drive case but the lid of the actual drive. If there is only one screw in the casing then it may slide or clip together, Check that none of the Labels are hiding Screw holes...(Often Done) Then look for small holes/slots in the side of the Casing where one might slip a thin Blade or Screw driver, this may unclip plastic Side clips... If that fails, send me some pics of the case and I'll see what I can do to sort the Method... Hope this helps. C

How DO i Fix DVD Writer Works As CD ROM Only. Not Detecting any DVD.

There are 2 assemblies inside it.
One works to read/write CD media.
One works to read/write DVD media.
So, your device is "half-broken".
Replace it.

Packard Bell how to take out DVD writer

usually there is a small cross headed brass screw underneath laptop case that needs to come out

turn over laptop when off

look for door to cd/dvd player

trace your finger in middle of door about 2 to 4 inches in case on bottom

should see a small screw there

will require a tiny phillips head driver to remove

then should slide out with a little push on base of drive housing

Regarding to http://www.fixya.com/support/t9259110-sony_vaio .. how will i remove the case to remove the cooling fan?

Ok, on a laptop you need to get some cups and label them to put the screws in so you will know where they came from. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery then start removing all the screws from the bottom of the laptop. Then remove all the devices from the bottom of the laptop such as the hard drive, the memory, dvd/cd drive, wireless card, etc. Take note of how the wires are on the wireless card, those are the antennas.

Look inside the battery case, hard drive case, memory case and dvd drive slot for screw. Some screws on the bottom case in inside of some of the device cases might have the icon of a keyboard next to it. Those screws hold the keyboard in place.

Turn the laptop over, remove the strip that is just above the keyboard but be careful because a cable might be attached to it. Then remove the screws that hold the keyboard in place that are under where the strip was and gently lift the keyboard out because there is definitely a cable under it.

Next you can remove the screws from the lcd hinges at the corners and lift the lcd screen off, also note that you will have to pull the antennas cable and the lcd cable when you remove the lcd.

Next start removing any screws that hold the palmrest in place. Take note of any cables that are attached to the palmrest and remove them then lift the palmrest off.

Next start removing any screws you see that hold the motherboard to the bottom case, then lift the motherboard out an start replacing the fan.

A digital camera to take pictures will be most helpful to refresh you memory of where things were.

HOw Do I Take Apart a Dell Inspiron1764

LOL, just get some paper cups and label them with the screws you take off so that you will know how to put them back. It would take too long to go into details on how to tear a laptop down, but basically you remove the power cord, remove the battery, remove screws from the bottom case, remove the disk drive, remove the memory, remove the cd drive, remove the wifi card, remove the dvd drive, remove screws inside battery case, remove screws inside the hard drive case, remove screws inside the cd case, turn the laptop over, open the lid, remove the strip above the keyboard, remove screws holding the keyboard, remove the keyboard, remove screws holding the palmrest, remove the palmrest, remove the lcd hinges, remove the wires coming from the lcd going down thru the palmrest. Lift the motherboard out.

Service manual for Matsui M22DVDB19 please

I've done this! I was stuck in exactly the same position. You need to peel back the piece of plastic labelling all the sockets etc. There is one final screw in the centre under there.

Hope this isn't too late!

Hi, I have a Freecom 250GB external Hard drive (model - PSLADD, p/n - 27035 ). I did work fine for about 2 years but now both my computers do not see it even in 'disk management'. The blue light on the...

Seems like your drive is gone - the repetitive sound of your drive trying to spin every few seconds is not good. You may be able to remove the drive from the case - it will actually be a standard hard drive inside. Once removed, you could install it internally in a pc and try to see if it can be read from there. I have one of these myself and I suspect that to open it you will have to remove the sticker on the underside that says 'WARRANTY VOID if seal is broken' - there should be a screw under there that will allow you to open the case. Good luck.
P.s. I have lost my power adapter for this model - could you tell me (post reply) what details are on your adapter - i.e. OUTPUT: 12vDc ??A, and make/model.
Thanks

My LG DVD writer GSA-H55N not detecting CDs and some DVDs

Some DVD/CD drivers have two lasers: one for DVD and the other for CD. Not sure if this is your case but looks like the laser for CD discs is gone. The only way to repair it to replace the pickup mechanism. Anyway, it's hard to diagnose your issue as it may be caused by drivers, dust, software that interferes with the CD/DVD drivers, etc.

Tdk.dvd-r not working on my freecom rewriter

It could be that the media that you are using is not compatible with the writer. Is the rewriter a DVD +-R drive or just a CD-RW drive? What software are you using to write to the media.

    Freecom Classic DVD problem

I had a similar problem with a Sony External DVD Writer. I updated the firmware and all was right again. If you can identify the model of your drive here ----> http://www.freecom.com/firmware.asp?form1=true&form2=true&serie=12600&Manufactures=12600 ----- Then you can download the firmware, update and you should be set. Hope that helps!
