Question about Alpine CDA-9885 CD Player

1 Answer

Display is not working, but cd plays. The display has no power to it, but sometimes it does. If the display is on the volume will work for a short time and then it won't allow me to turn it up or down.

Is it a detachable face???? If so the connections where the radio and faceplate meet are either dirty or not making good contact...

Why has 'protect'come on my cd display.but still

That means one of your speakers are shorted out or blown. Even though they may play, they can still be blown. Have your speakers checked out. Or the wiring checked out from the radio to the speakers.

My car stereo flashes the word "PROTECT"

If this happened while playing music at a little higher volume, you must check the speakers for short in coils. disconnect the speakers to see if the protect condition changes, if so check the speakers and wiring. If not then you must have blown up the output IC or a power shorting within the set. You will have to remove the pcb disconnect the power to the output IC to confirm the fault. Helpful I hope. My Sony CFD SO1 keeps skipping/display light keeps flashing

That is an electronic problem. Probably a just-about-to-break cable in the motor of the CD drive, that sometimes causes a short and turns off the unit, or sometimes makes it to comport erratically and produce the buzzy sound. If you have electronics knowledge, then you may open and check the wiring harnesses. If don't, take it to your local electronics repair.

Overall Problem - Panasonic RX-ED707 won't work properly at all

only 1 reason for that faults :

there is a flat connects the top panel which has all the controls with the other circutes in the stereo...
so you have to open it and care for the cd unit it damage easily then check the flat for loseness or cuts
it happened to me also and that works perfectly
good luck
