Every half an hour, an annoying error popup comes up on my laptop screen

So, that error is coming up because a .dll is missing where it should be. You should go to Roaming by going to the Start Menu and typing in '%appdata%' with the percentage signs. Then click on the 'Roaming' folder. After that, find the folder named 'OpenCandy' and open it. Then if there is an uninstaller in there open it and uninstall OpenCandy. The uninstallers are usually at the bottom of the page. They are usually called 'uninst' for short. If you still want OpenCandy then just reinstall it the same way you did if you installed it in the first place. Hope this helps.

Error messages on desktop

You have a virus, First uninstall any program you do not recognize, then install ccleaner and run it at default settings to remove any junk.

Then in ccleaner go to the tools tab, and then startup.
Look for the newnext entry, and remove it.

The start up section is what calls the dll in question, removing it from the start up should get rid of the error.

You really should get an I.T. professional to give it a once over to make sure it is good to go.

I have this error message that pops up when I start my computer "There was a problem starting c:\users\focusconstruction\appdata\roaming\qufvc.dll the specified module could not be found

Go to Search and type MSConfig. At the startup tab uncheck anything relating back to that application. Not to worry if you are not sure. You can uncheck till you find it, or all.

Error 1606

Re: Please Help Unable to Install TIVO Desktop -- Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%\

The response to "Echo %appadata%" should be
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming
A space in the user name shouldn't be a problem, but creating a new user may fix the problem because it will create the account with default registry settings which will hopefully have the missing %appdata% information.
If you want to check on this before creating the new user, just for curiosity's sake, check the following Registry key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and check the value for AppData in the right hand pane. If it's missing, then that would explain the problem. It should be as listed above, substituting the UserName with the folder name for the user under Users.
Also check the key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
The value of this key should be
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
More keys to check:
HKCU\Volatile Environement (1)
HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
HKU\Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
HKU\Sxxxxx\Volatile Environement (1)
The values in (1) should have the full path spelled out, the values in (2) should use the %USERPROFILE% variable in the path. If the value under HKU\.DEFAULT is missing or bad, then creating a new user probably won't work either. If that value is missing, then I would recommend a clean reinstall of Windows because there is no telling what else is messed up also.

The value for AppData in the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
is C:\Users\Murray Admin\AppData\Roaming
In the key the key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
The value for AppData is %APPDATA%
The value for Local AppData is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local

In HKCU\Volatile Environement (1)
The value for HOMEPATH is \Users\Murray Admin
In HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
The value for AppData is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming (all the keys have the %USERPROFILE%\ )
In HKU\Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
The value in one of the \Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShell Folders keys for AppData is

%APPDATA% (Missing the %USERPROFILE%\ ) --- Could this be the problem???
All the other values within do contain %USERPROFILE%\

Do you think editing the key, adding %USERPROFILE%\ would do the trick? If so, it would be alot eaiser then
a re-install. There is not much junk on it as this pc is only about a month and a half old. The other machine
is about six months old. Both are from the same manufacturer (Compaq) but different models.

Also - Using the set command the value returned for %APPDATA% are:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\Murray Admin>set
....
TEMP=C:\Users\MURRAY~1\AppData\Local\Temp
TMP=C:\Users\MURRAY~1\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Users\Murray Admin>

Getting error code 1606 no acdess to network location %APPDATA%

%appdata% is not a network location. It is a systemwide variable

%appdata% it is a directory on your computer

For Vista it is C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\
for XP it is C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\

I think the application is having problems locating it.

You have Malware or Spyware. If you can load your destop, download and run http://malwarebytes.org and http://www.spybot.com. If you can't load your desktop, download (including updates) from another computer and run on your desktop. Good luck.
