Question about Zonet Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have a question regarding a Zonet fax modem/32 bit on Windows 7. When trying to send a fax, the progress screen indicates 'sending page 1 of 1'. However, after a few moments, the line disconnects and the screen says 'The remote fax machine did not respond in time, and the call was terminated'. I have successfully sent faxes over the past few days, it appears to be timing out on just this one recipient. And they have been successfully receiving faxes today, just none of mine are getting through. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Sending Faxes

When the last page of your document has been sent successfully, the machine beeps and returns to Standby mode. When something goes wrong while sending your fax, an error message appears on the display. If you receive an error message, press Stop/Clear to clear the message and try to send the document again. You can set your machine to print a confirmation report automatically each time sending a fax is completed. If you get the error message write it down it should always supply an error message if the fax did not go through.

My HP J4680 can send faxes but won't receive the faxes?

If I understand correctly you have HP Officejet J4680 All-in-One Printer. You need to check the Version of operating system installed in your computer. In order to check that click on START->right click on COMPUTER->click on PROPERTIES. It will be one of the following :-
1. Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)
2. Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
3. Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)
4. Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
5. Microsoft Windows XP
Then from HP support site install the correct version of driver for that printer.
For further details you can also call HP Phone Support at 1-800-474-6836 if the printer is in warranty.

Do reply with the result....wish you Best Of Luck

Scanning the document

I'm confused? The listed product is a Fax/Modem, not an all-in-one. It doesn't have a scan function. To send a document via a fax, you will need to scan it with a scanner (separate hardware) and then fax it. In Windows 7, a program called Windows Fax and Scan is included. If the devices are installed with the correct drivers, you can do the two steps in one program. Open the program, click on New Fax. Select Insert > Pages from Scanner (only available if the scanner was on and connected when Fax and Scan was started). Scan the document; fill in the contact information for the receipient and send. The Contact information may take a few steps since it is a Windows Contact page.

I hope this helps.

How do I fax from OpenOffice.org Writter??? I have a HP Officejet J5780 that fax hard copy just fine, but want to fax right from the word processor. I am using Vista Home os.

Sending Faxes and Configuring OpenOffice.org for Faxing
To send a fax directly from OpenOffice.org, you need a fax modem and a fax driver that allows applications to communicate with the fax modem.
Sending a Fax Through the Print Dialog
1. Open the Print dialog by choosing File - Print and select the fax driver in the Name list box.
2. Clicking OK opens the dialog for your fax driver, where you can select the fax recipient.

Configuring OpenOffice.org a Fax Icon
You can configure OpenOffice.org so that a single click on an icon automatically sends the current document as a fax:
1. Choose Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org Writer - Print.
2. Select the fax driver from the Fax list box and click OK.
3. Click the arrow icon at the end of the Standard bar. In the drop-down menu, choose Customize.
The Toolbars tab page of the Customize dialog appears.
4. Click Add Commands.
5. Select the “Documents” category, then select the “Send Default Fax” command.
6. Click Add and then Close.
7. On the Toolbars tab page, click the down arrow button to position the new icon where you want it. Click OK.
Your Standard bar now has a new icon to send the current document as a fax.
